(weights only not including cardio which was walking his dogs)
Dorian Yates won the Olympia on 2.5 hrs/WEEK
AnonNow that im cutting 30-45min the morning for cardio
1.5-2.5hrs in the evening 5-6days a week
Enough time to get the job done. Get in, do what you gotta do, and get out.
Currently 2hr 3x/wk is what Im spending in the gym.
It's different for each person and each goal. What someone's "perfect body shape" is to one person, is completely different to another. It looks like you are starting out and should stick to the basics for a few years and get a solid base and then go from there. Diet is just as important as lifting, so you need to get that down as well. Time you should take in the gym is how long it takes to accomplish the goals you have set for yourself. If you're spending less than an hour, you're probably not getting a lot out of it, but I am just speaking generally.
You don't have to spend more then an hour in the gym if you are doing the right sets and hitting 80% of your min/max. It only takes about an hour for your body to start producing cortisol and lactic acid which hinders any extra effort you put into the workout. So if you think sitting in the gym for an hour and a half and your muscles are tired and you must have done a great workout your incorrect. You can put in a solid 30 minutes of good old fashioned ass whipping sets and accomplish more then the 2 hour guy. It's all about form and function.
I'm not saying that you can't get a good workout in 30 min, but it all depends on your goals. I do five miles of cardio six times a week, before I lift. That would leave me no time to lift after that if I stuck to 30 min. It usually takes me about 50 min to 1 hour, after my cardio, to get my lifting in and that is at a fast pace. I only gave an hour as a GENERAL guideline to go by. Everyone is different and has different goals.
I do completely agree that working harder and faster is always better than taking too much time between sets though.
That makes sense, I do 10 minutes of seated rows before every workout so I get ya
jonesmax096ohh thats nice grygst72, I joined a gym in my area from last two days I am going just started basics. My trainer told me for 3 months I should invest 45 to 60 mins in gym. But after that given 1 1/2 to 2 hours in gym. Ya and I also agree with that if gym is croweded I feel like I dont want to workout for that day.
Thanks guys for rplies.
I personally spend 45-55 minutes 4 days a week. It all depends on how crowded the gym is. If I can get to machines and free weights easier; then its about an hour and 15 minutes. Some people go 5-7 times a week and I guess it depends on you or what true goals you have in mind. I go that much because I have no ambition to be Mr Universe; just to be in great shape and more self confident. Also because the wife does not like too much muscle and a happy wife is a happy life.
Bro there is no magic set number .. You really need to look and research exercising and different principles of them. Then just as important as training (correctly) is proper nutrition . Weight lifting and body building is like a puzzle each piece had to fit propperly for the puzzle to look right..
