GMO's

ad

This past Saturday, May 25, 2013, a protest took place around the entire world against Monsanto and their GMO foods. It was one of the biggest protests ever to take place around the entire globe and not even one main stream media outlet covered the event. Monsanto is one of the 6 big corporations who are running our government. There are over 500 individuals connected to Monsanto holding key positions within our government & the media. The current head of the U.S. FDA is the ex V.P. of Monsanto. In addition, Clarence Thomas, one of the present Supreme Court Justices, was the former lawyer for Monsanto.
GMO’s or genetically modified organisms are toxic to the human body. In a recent study in France, rats fed 33% of their diet from GMO’s for 2 years, produced tumors throughout their entire bodies. In addition, they showed liver damage as well as digestive problems.

During the past election, Californians voted on Proposition 37, a bill that would require food labeling of all products containing GMO’s. Sadly, Monsanto channeled in Millions of dollars in ad campaigns to scare people into voting against Prop 37 and subsequently the billed failed. It lost by a count of 47 to 51, which speaks volumes about how Californians feel about their right to know. It was discovered and reported by alternative media that millions of votes in California were never counted so there is a possibility that Prop 37 actually did pass. Nonetheless, we as Americans have the right to know what is in our food and to have it labeled accordingly. In Europe, China & Japan, GMO’s are prohibited, which begs the question why are they allowed in the food sources of the American people.

To date, there have been no independent studies on the effects of long term ingestion of GMO’s on the human body. In actuality, we have become the gunea pigs for corporations such as Monsanto, Dow, Bechtel etc. In my opinion if you don’t have all the evidence error on the side of caution. Presently all soy, corn, alfalfa, papaya are genetically modified unless organically grown. In addition, other fruits and vegetables are as well and you can tell by the little numbered label on your fruit. If the number starts with a 9 it’s organic, a 4 conventional, a 3 it’s genetically modified.

Bill Gates is a hugh supporter and funder of GMO food and reserach. He is presently funding a program to genetically engineer cows to produce mother’s milk, as in women’s breast milk. There is also a company called AquaBounty Technologies, who is presently trying to get regulatory approval from the FDA for genetically engineered salmon. (please reference above who the head of our FDA is)

This cross breading and creating of food in a petri dish does not occur naturally in nature and has no place in the human body.

Please do your own research, and at the minimum educate yourself even if you have no problem eating GMO’s we all should have the right to decide what we put in our bodies. A corporate agenda should not be forced upon us without our consent.

Ikr... Some of us spends 100s and even 1000s on gear supplies, but neglect the quality of the the raw materials that the gear uses to enhance our physique.

Doss's picture

You may be very surprised to know what else they approve as safe to eat. Do a google search or the FDA tolerable levels for insects, rodents, pest droppings, etc. a little digging and you'll be amazed at just how unsafe our food supply really is.

meh let science do its thing, its why we have all the great thing we have today like AAS

They said the same thing 100 years ago when modern medicine came into use such as penicillin... one doesn't need medicine they say, only need faith in God, as I shoot synthetic hormones made in some dudes baseent into my legs and ass, last thing Im worried about is GMOs, more like drunk drivers, child molestoers, financial collapse, and liberals taking away my guns!!!

In a promo × 1

omg rotflmao...

alayna's picture

you keep shooting that shit in yr ass and worrying about the child molesters ...an fyi Monsanto is part of the financial collapse and disarming america...now if you took a greater look at the world around you....you wld know this...eat up yr GMO's Smile

Thing about it, brother, is that not everyone shares the same view points. Everyone cares about their health in a subjective manner.

On one hand you have some that half heartedly care about the quality of foods they ingest. These people may focus generally on the macros and balance the energy output to meet the goals. With this, they are satisfied, and there is nothing wrong with that.

On the other hand, you may have some that take a wholistic stance with health and fitness. A purest, if you will. To put into perspective: pretty much everyone here is familiar with Viking. Right? We all know the dedication and discipline that goes into his training and diet. Wether he's a purest or not, I do not know. But I would bet my paycheck that he does focus on the quality of the foods that he puts into his body. Kinda makes me wonder what sort of comments would be posted had this been his topic...

The point is this: we strive for self improvement. Yes? We take performance enhancers to improve our strength and overall quality of life. And in this community, we acknowledge the diversity among ourselves in terms of knowledge, experience levels, and even individual opinions. As an ex nutritionist, I find this topic quite interesting, and you very well may also if you researched a bit into the benefits and adverse effects of GMO's. but that's neither here nor there...

I can tell you this much: the dedication and discipline this woman puts into both her training and diet would put a lot of us to shame. For that, IMO, she deserves a little credit.

Thank you Dossier thank you for respecting the intelligence of a woman...you are absolutely right if Viking wrote this article, which btw i have mad respect for him, these uninformed men wld be a lot more subdued.

This is why i refrain from posting articles....its very disconcerting how closed minded some ppl are

j223's picture

these uninformed men

hope you're not talking about me lol.

I respectfully said I have nothing against gmo's. I am currently studying biology at a University. I am far from uninformed in regards to GMO'S. All I was saying is that there has not been any proof of gmo's causing any threats as of yet. Until there is, I will continue to eat the foods I eat. I also stated I try to buy my foods at places like trader joes or whole foods because they mostly don't sell gmo foods. But on the other hand I don't have a problem going to the local grocery store and picking up something when I don't have time to shop at whole foods.
Close minded? How is that? I can understand a concern with GMO's but it really hasn't proven much negative effects yet. I do agree I would prefer foods to be natural, but in today's world there is not much of an option anymore.

alayna's picture

You are one of males i was referring to....you're a 23 year old kid who studies at "university" and is being indoctrinated with the liberal agenda, which trust me they ARE NOT teaching in your Biology class the truth about GMO's, dioxin, agent orange, excitotoxins, depleted uranium, squalene, thimerosal, sodium floride, and the nearly 40 + vaccines, they stuck in yr body......i have been training longer than you've been alive and there is a damn good reason i look the way i do and i have studied and researched for hundreds of thousands of hours while you played Lego's.
Further, this article was about the protest against Monsanto, and their production of GMO's not just about GMO's...there is a damn good reason, why millions of ppl around the world protested against this company

so before you speak of not what you know, eductate YOURSELF, in the meantime, go play X-BOX

j223's picture

Yeah you are right... I'm just some brainwashed college student. And yes, they teach nothing about gmo's in my biology and biotechnology classes lmao.
GMO's have been extremely helpful - pharmaceutical drugs(insulin), bioremediation, and gene therapy to cure some diseases in humans. It's not all bad. It has brought down costs of food production, and there has not been enough evidence to prove them as causing any long term negative health effects.
But what do I know? You've been exercising as long as I been alive, and you were researching for 100 thousand hours while I was playing legos...

It's unfortunate people can not keep an argument civil. Specifically in politics. But it's okay, I'm not going to stray away from the point and make pointless comments about you.

alayna's picture

sweetheart you have no clue what is really going on in the government or the world....

humans have been on the earth for hundreds of thousands of years even possibly millions....we did not need food that was made in a petri dish and we do not need it now...these ORGANIMS are NOT compatible to humans or animals...farmers everywhere have reported their cattle becoming sick and dying...once they stop feeding them GMO feed they resume their health....Monsanto and companies like them are making humans sick.and sadly by the time you are my age there will not be enough hospitals for all the sick ppl...if this and other poisoning of our food and air does not cease

if the world practiced sustainable planting and did not exploit the earth there would be more than enough natural food to feed the world which would have a far greater nutritional content....would you really want to eat a piece of corn that was made from a genetically engineered seed that was infiltrated with organisms that could live in your gut flora for who knows how long and what they can metastasize into....or a piece of organically grown corn from a normal every day seed....

further my post again is about Monsanto the company itself and their agenda that they purport on the American ppl and American farmers...in fact Vladimir Putman just told off John Kerry for allowing GMO's in the food chain...GMO's are banned in all of Europe and some other countries....in fact Putman told Kerry that if we do not stop polluting the food chain with GMO's it will start a war....GMO's are ruining are farms and bankrupting our farmers and now thanks to that piece of shit Obama, Monsanto is exempt from prosecution...

As I told you before, enlighten yourself...educate yourself, research and learn on your own and for the love of god stop watching mainstream media.

alayna's picture

I could not, have said it better! its the truth

j223's picture

Costs of food production down?

Absolutely. A plant can been modified to grow faster, be resistant to fungi, viruses, resistant to pests or tolerable to extreme weather conditions. These are all things that help keep costs down for example if it grows faster more crops can be harvested. Or if it has been modified to be resistant to pests then that takes away the need for pesticides (which cost money), and so on..

Firecracker!

On a serious note: I happen to be quite fond of my Legos and Xbox...

between you and BB you guys are kilin me....again i nearly fell of my chair lmao!

Doss's picture

Getting defensive? I happen to know this woman, and she is rather outspoken. Trust me when I say that she wouldn't be insinuating anything; she'll flat out say it.

As for the GMOs and your classes, you're not gonna learn about them in biology. This is a topic that's discussed in your health and human performance electives. Both of my science of nutrition courses touched base on this, and she is correct. There are some GMOs that provide benefits. An example is a strain of genetically modified golden rice that has an incredible amount of protein in it. It's benefits are provided mostly in the malnutished, and is the reason for its existence.

On the other hand there are GMF'S that do carry risks. Because the risks are not short term, the FDA has approved th for consumption. The FDA also allows for a certain amount of pests, animal hair, and fecal matter in foods that are inspected. And trust me that the tolerable level exceeds what you would feel comfortable with. This is another topic that you won't find in a biology class. If you get a chance, take a nutrition course as a free elective.

Doss's picture

You keep doing what you do. Don't let anyone get in the way of that.

j223's picture

Ahh the great GMO debate. Personally I got nothing against gmos.

shop at trader joes or whole foods if you are paranoid =)

alayna's picture

im far from paranoid im just informed....i do shop there

j223's picture

I'm not calling you paranoid Alayna. That was just my way of offering an option to where anyone can buy food. Whole foods either doesn't sell gmo foods or they label specifically on the ones that are.

I was trying to let you(or anyone else who reads the comment) know of a place to get gmo free food, not calling you paranoid. Sorry if it sounded that way. I will try to be more clear
