50+ years old - Maintain Mass and Body Weight, but cut up more
ad
I am a 50+ male looking to enter my first contest this coming November. I am currently 175lbs and am 5'7" tall with approx 11 - 12% bf. I am very muscled for man of my age, but cannot cut up the necessary way for a contest going all natural. I stick to all the basic nutrition rules as any on truly into this sport does. 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight,no more then 30% of my caloric intake in carbs etc. I am very interested in going on a cycle the would greatly aide with my definition but not lose the muscle I have worked so hard to obtain. Becoming more vascular is very important as well.
Any advice from you experienced people would be greatly appreciated.

Keep an eye on the RBC, Hema/Hemo levels. These can get high very easily with AAS. And when they do, you can approach Stroke/Heart Attack territory very easily.
I would suggest that before even starting a cycle – for any AAS user of any age – go down and donate a pint of blood at Red Cross. This will drop your RBC/Hema/Hemo levels a few points. And then donate again at the end of the cycle. It only costs $50 to purchase a blood work test online and get your results and donating at Red Cross is free (and you even get freebies in exchange there).
Snapper, I too am over 50, Im 54, and I am having "my boat turned in a whole nother direction" since going on my first cycle since I was 22. About 4 in total. I wanted to just bulk up at first and add some sex drive and also a general feeling of vitality and endurance in and out of the gym. Well now I see, that even on 500ml per week of sustanon and 30mg dbol I dont even feel like going into the gym after my 10th week on cycle. Im now on week 14 and must have missed 2 weeks of working out already. I tried 2 weeks of equipoise as thats all i had in my order and that wasnt enough time to notice any endurance changes or anything. So now Im nearing the end of my cycle and I feel like it was just a waste as I was working out with so little energy all this time.
WHAT IS THE BEST ANABOLIC FOR ENERGY. i WANT TO SLEEP LESS, FEEL PYCHED OUT TO GET INTO THE GYM, AND JUST WAKE UP WITH THAT BEAT THE WORLD FEELING. Truthfully, I didnt get that from test and deca back in my 20's and gave up after my 3rd 12 week cycle. I even added proviron , 1/2 25mg pill daily, into the mix 2 weeks ago as I heard it helps one metabolize free floating test better. It did zip except give me itching after 4 days and I stopped it. Im wondering if I just need a very high quality test product , something I might be able to get from "the little green man on the bottle" according to reviews might be the ticket. But I want the endurance of a distance runner now. Muscle can come later. ANY IDEAS?
Silat, I am not the most experienced use. I as well had a great deal more knowledge when I was in my 20's and things as it related to gear was much more straight forward and simple as compared to today.
However, keeping it simple as you state you would like to and you are not concerned about huge gains in mass that you probably would not maintain much once you came off the cycle, I have had much success with just cycling Anavar. I take 80mg spread out over three doses per day, as the half life is about only 8 hours. This helps to keep my levels consistent throughout the day. I usually take it from 8 - 10 weeks then cycle off for 6 - 8 weeks.
For me the var gives me great energy, very noticeable gains in strength, good fat loss and a couple of ponds of quality solid muscle gain. The best part is I have experienced no sides and it is a common belief the PCT is not really required. I do take liver support just to be cautious. Additionally, any improvements and gains while on the cycle I have maintained when off. You will not experience any substantial gains but it will be noticeable and very good quality. The down side is it may very well be the most expensive gear to purchase.
For people in our age group who are not looking to be the next Olympia, I think this gear is the best way to go and it is safe.
I hope this helps.
Even though you are 50 yrs old all of the same cycle info applies to you as it would anyone else. Check out the other aas forums on here and learn as much as you can about cycles before you start. Blood work is imparative and get a baseline before you start. If your test level is low look into TRT
The only thing you need to really watch would be your blood pressure which aas can quickly raise. Also keep an eye on your Red blood cell count as that will go up to. Your age puts you at a much higher risk for stroke and heart attack.
If you are looking for vascularity use Winstrol towards the end of your cycle. That stuff will show veins you never knew you had.
Thanks for the advice. The obvious concern is the high possibility of Stroke and or Heat Attack. I certainly will start with a cycle that is not very hard on the liver and I will definitely follow the advice of adding the Winstrol towards the end.
Research, research, research! Keep an eye on your total bloodwork (including lipids) to minimze the stroke/ heart attack issue. See a cardiologist for a checkup if you haven't already, so you can ensure your heart is up to the extra training you will have while your on cycle.
