Warm Red Patch Below Injection Site

ad

Hi Bros,

I know there are several posts about this onsite, and I've read a lot of them, but I'd like to believe that all situations are different, and maybe mine isn't so bad...wishful thinking lol.

Anyway, I injected into my left delt for the first time three days ago. It was pharma grade Test P that I've used before, and on this cycle have pinned it into my glute and quad, once each without problems. I've actually never had any trouble with this Test P aside from some mild PIP on occasion.

After the first day, I was getting some mild PIP. On day 2 a 3-4" red patch appeared about 3" below the injection site. By day 3 the redness seemed to subside a bit, but it had grown larger and moved further down my arm. It is warm to the touch, is a little sore, itches, but not much swelling, pain and no fever.

I am very thorough when I pin. I swab the bottle stopper, the injection site, and swap needles after drawing. I also shower and exfoliate before each injection. And as I said above, have never had any issues like this before with this particular product. I have had soreness and knots that moved away from the injection site before, but never accompanied by redness. And there is a definite knot localized in the red patch.

I fully intend to keep monitoring it. What can you guys tell me about these symptoms? Could it just be inflammation from injecting into virgin muscle, or should I be concerned about infection?

If it has gone down a lot then you probably have nothing to worry about. give it a few more days and Im sure it will be gone. stay away from that spot for a bit. let us know how it turns out. good luck bro

You need to mark each side of the patch with a pen or marker. Not a permanent one. Dir. And see if it spreads you. If it is then got to the doc. Sounds like cellulitis to me. You Gould post a pic.

It has cleared up considerably since yesterday. The redness is almost all gone, the swelling is down, and it doesn't itch anymore. I think I'm good!

Thanks everyone for your replies and advice. I took some Benadryl and went to bed last night, and it is absolutely getting better. The redness is down, less soreness, the knot is going away, but still really itchy. I think I'll keep taking the Benadryl until it's all gone. You guys are the best!

I had the same thing happen (minus the itchiness!) the first time I shot my right delt...I was a little clumsy using my left hand and ended up with a stiff, warm mass about two to three inches below the spot I shot. I used a warm compress a few days and took ibuprofen...it was gone in about a week!

yea bro thats me right now. definitely messed up and moved the needle around a whole lot when i pinned it wed. and its pretty much same description

whiteNcrispy's picture

Thanks guys. I'm on some Benadryl now and heading to bed. I guess I'll see how it is by morning. BTW, how much do you take for this? I just took the standard dose of 2xpills.

whiteNcrispy's picture

Yes it does. I went out like a light last night and I don't think I moved once haha.

X2. I agree. I get this periodically. Almost like the gear is inflaming the surrounding tissue and traveling. Benadryl knocks it out. Motrin is an anti-inflammatory as well. Take both (if you're not allergic).

And please, post here. I need to know what whiteNcrispy is about.

Haha, nice, I'll post there for sure, but if you click my profile, there's a phrase that kind of gives it away. I think I'll run down and grab some Benadryl right now. But, do you think this possible even though it's not affecting my glutes or quads?

Nitti's picture

You're reacting to something. Maybe the carrier, a solvent or maybe just something went wrong or was contaminated during injection. Could be anything. But beny will knock it out.

whiteNcrispy's picture

Cool, heading to Walgreen's now. Thanks bro!

Doss's picture

don't see it being a reaction to any part of the gear being as he only had this happen in his delt and no where else.

Gixxer151's picture

Sweet answer , I just did this to my self in delt it's my 1st cycle . Feel much better with your info

Marbelous's picture

does this mean the shot was wasted or didnt/wont be fully utilized if this happens?

Doss's picture

Not wasted, no. The body will still absorb the fluids in the interstitial spaces via the lymphatic system. The absorption will be much slower this way and will, therefore, interact with the surrounding tissues longer. Hence the discomfort and redness.

whiteNcrispy's picture

Hmmm, not sure how I missed the muscle, but it's good to know others have experienced similar symptoms. That puts my mind to rest quite a bit. Thanks!

Doss's picture

when it happened to me, it was one delt. then next time pinning, it happened to the other delt the same way. kinda resembled cellulitis.

Doss's picture

hmmm... well, there ya have it

did you say you pinned your lats while sitting on the couch watching tv?

Doss's picture

i had the very same thing happen to me before. i chalked it up as not changing my drawing needle like i should have. but, i also, never pinned my delts again afterwards.

could be that some of the oils and solvents weren't dispersed properly into the bloodstream or lymphatic system from the interstitial spaces post injection; therefore, reacting with the surrounding tissues until finally being absorbed. could be something to do with the injection technique for this particular muscle group.

whiteNcrispy's picture

I always swap my needle after drawing. I was spot on with sanitation. It does have me a little freaked out. I couldn't finish lifting tonight because I was so distracted with it, plus my BP is starting to elevate after the first week on, and it's messing with my head lol. I doubt I'll ever inject delts again either. This sucks!
