+ 8 **When checking natural Testosterone serum levels timing is critical. That 390 you scored at 3pm may not be accurate**

ad

I decided to write this as I've been seeing a few posts and labs where the persons natural Test levels were lower than before. Sometimes by as much as 200ng/ml. After looking at these, one thing I noticed was that these labs were taken later in the day in the afternoon. SO what's the big deal. Well I'll tell. In males, serum Testosterone levels show a circadian variation, with the highest levels in the morning and lowest levels in the late afternoon. In young men, the variation in testosterone levels is approximately 35% (1).. Although the normal range for serum testosterone might vary between different laboratories, the normal range for early morning total testosterone in healthy adult males is approximately 300 ng/dL to 1000 ng/dL. The aging male laboratory testing should include early morning (8:00–10:00 AM) measurement of serum testosterone. In elderly men, testosterone levels decrease between 15% and 20% over the course of 24 hours. Basically all testosterone testing should be performed at the labs recommended time. For LabCorp the recommended time is 8AM.
A lab taken at late afternoon can have a variance of 35% in younger men. For those who tested low your natty testosterone levels will be higher if you tested in the AM. Let me know if you agree or disagree. But the facts are here check it out.

Awesome read mega! I had a very similar question to my bloods which I took at 4 pm Irongame found this article for me and for that I thank him. And I wanna thank you brotha for everything you put into this site. If it wasn't for you the lab test section would be way worse off. +1

Great post! Fasting will also play a role in how your Test results come out. Something to keep in mind.

this is true, you learn about this in school about the circadian rhythm and if I remember right your peak levels are supposedly around 9am..

good write up, thanks for the link also +'s

I would anticipate these values involve Endogenous test levels not Exogenous though.

You are correct. This is only for natural test levels. Such as before a cycle (not on trt) or after PCT when natural levels are re-established and level out.

I'm inclined to think you're right about that...still, if you're not blasting and cruising and doing PCT this is helpful to gauge recovery or I guess to get a better measurement of pre-cycle levels as well.

A useful and informative post...thx. I've been scheduling in the afternoons, but it looks like this will have to change. +1
