How much do you Squat and Deadlift?
ad
Well, there's a "what do you bench" thread, but not one about the King(s) of Lifts! While a big bench is impressive, the true test of strength is in the deadlift and squat (and possibly stone lifting, but that's another topic). A legitimate squat is one to at least parallel. Deadlift is pretty hard to screw up.
So, how much are people squatting? Deadlifting? Post your numbers, at what body weight and if raw or equipped and any equipment used, e.g. belt, knee wraps, suits, etc.

DL. 2 different heights on the squat rack.. at the bottom of the rack I use
350-375 - a lot of reps.. at about knee high or so on the rack I use 400-450-500
for sets.. I have done 725 on a rack pull. ( very good day for me.). and a few years
younger.(im 51 now).. Best squat was 600 for 9 reps.. no belt no wraps in a smith
machine.. right now..I could easily do 350/400 for reps in a SM ..
Squats- 405lbs "ass to grass" 8xs
Deadlift- 550lbs 3xs
Stats: 6'4, 240lbs, BF%17.5
I'm out of the deadlift and squat game for a little while now, have pain from lower back down to below knee, went to doc 3 weeks ago and doc said damaged sciatic nerve and not to dead or squat for 6 weeks, well was feeling a little better and I thought i could do some squats yesterday and now the pain is severe again, so yes I feel like a dumbass lol I am gonna have dead and squat vicariously through my bros now until it heals....
took a year break along with knee surgury 5'9 196 currently of 3months in gym deads at 385 7-8 405 with straps 3-4
also use a knee brace on my left knee still kinda nervous from previous injury think it hurts my lift alot
Squat
840 equipped(wraps, belt, light suit) 1 inch below parallel
650 raw (no belt, no wraps, no suit) ATG with pause
Deadlift
720 raw (just chalk)
Damn strong! Is the equipped single or multi-ply?
Thanks man. Single ply Inzer on the suit. That was back when they didn't have the suits that stand up on their own, lol. Wraps were yellow lines, and double prong Inzer belt.
1 rep 460 DL
4 reps 435 DL
squats i keep right around 365. always have knee issues when i go heavy.
Body Weight is 225
475 deadlift -raw/no equipment
455 back squat -down to the bucket with good form
315 front squat -same as back squat
Just pulled 635x3.
Atta boy! Hoping my TNE will show today so I can pin it before deadlift tomorrow!!! Do you get into rack pulls much???
No, not too much. I don't like the change in form. I will throw in 18" deadlifts once in awhile when they're an event in an upcoming competition. Otherwise, I pretty much stick to full ROM pulls or deficits. I do change it up a bit every week, however. I've always got great results by doing reverse band deadlifts, or by adding chains. Heavy overload, in a way like rack pulls, but still full ROM.
squat 505x6 raw
bodyweight: 210 lbs
Damn son! Very strong!
thanks bro. im still natty
Damn good genetics then!
I'm all about DL. I have been running Jim Wendler's 531 program for awhile now. With a solid powerbelt and a little gear I've brought my 1RM up to 525lbs. I currently weigh in at 220lbs.
Very nice! Are you running his powerlifting variant or the original 5/3/1? I know a lot of people that really like Wendler's program.
Original 531. I do all my core lifts and tend to take more of a BB approach to my assistance work. I wouldn't say that i over train but i def do more than is required. Tren makes it very hard to leave the weight room at times. After my current cycle ill be switching to short esters. Very excited about suspension on heavy DL day!! I still haven't made it thru his book but I love the simplicity of his program. Highly recommended for anyone who is considering PL.
Max squat 3 reps 495
Max bench 2 reps 415
Max dead lift 5 reps 415
Not that impressive considering im 6'2" and 245 lbs! Just a big pussy! Lol
I disagree. Very nice bro!
Im currently weighing 185 lbs, and in third week of cycle. My squat is 225 for 12 "ass to the grass" and my deadlift is 345 for 6-7 with straps. Nothing too impressive, but that's where I am right now.
We're almost identical in weight and strength. I agree that's it's nothing super impressive, but on the flip side it took me two years of heavy lifting, and linear periodization to get there. So take pride in your work boss, I know I have!
Good stuff man! ATG is impressive no matter the weight. I don't think anyone with half a brain would say otherwise either!
Anon@ jonskull
I can squat 405 for a few reps going to 90 degrees, but I only put a few reps ATG with 225 while warming up... anything more than 5-6 reps with a pause at the bottom and it starts becoming a little too difficult for a warm up lol. Be careful I injured my patella going ATG early on when I got into powerlifting... I wouldn't recommend it honestly I don't see the point in going beyond 90 degrees for the safety of your knees.
replied to the wrong person.
Good looking out, my bro I train with says full range of motion equals full development, I'm gonna keep going ATG until injury prevents me lol
I believe it was Mark Rippetoe who said, "half reps produce half muscles"
Too old to even pay attention to weight. Plus I never go under 8 to 10 reps for any movement. With that said currently 220lbs and squatting 315 for 10 to 12 and deads 225 for 12 to 15. No idea what my max is in anything and my joints thank me!! And thats with no belt, wraps, straps, or other meat by-products.
Everyone is definitely different, but I have never had any joint problems, and I train low reps and heavy, multiple times per week and have been doing so for the past five years or more. Most joint pain is mistakenly diagnosed also when in reality it's tight muscles, especially in the knees. 9 times out of 10 your knees will hurt because of tight quads, hip and ankle immobility, etc. Otherwise, it's probably due to poor form.
Def not form. I am very strict and slow and controlled on everything. Also do plenty of stretching and warm up sets. My issues are from playing football for several years in my youth and the trauma. Lots of arthritis. By the way, very nice stats!
I got you. I know too many guys that are messed up from football. Thanks!
I'll kick it off. Before starting my first cycle a few weeks ago, my best equipped squat was 635 @ 235 LB BW in a single ply suit, heavy knee wraps and belt. Around the same time, I also hit a 700 lb deadlift wearing a deadlift suit and belt.
Currently, on my first cycle (four weeks through it), 2.5 weeks in I deadlifted raw 600x4 with belt only, and at 3.5 weeks on cycle squatted 585x1 (and barely missed 600) below parallel with belt and light knee wraps, both at body weight of 260-265 lb. Nothing spectacular, but personal bests all the same!
A 700lb deadlift is impressive regardless of bodyweight. Suit, and belt don't add much at all to your deadlift either.
Beast mode!
