Seagate USB Hard drive need help lol

I just purchased a new Hard drive that dosnt need a power source just plugs straight into a USB outlet, but it wont plug straight into my PS3 or dvd player usb and play it dosnt recognize anything, is there a way i can make this compatable?
i no this is off topic lol but that is what the forum says any help would be good.. its a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex ultra portable drive USB 3.0
