HGH IGF-1 Levels & 5:2 Fasting Diet
Could anyone please shed some light on my current confusion. I'm a Male aged 45 and considering my first course of HGH for Anti Aging / Fat Loss
During my research I noticed mention of getting IGF-1 levels tested to make sure they are high and the stuff is good.
This is in total conflict with my 5:2 intermittent fasting diet plan that I have been following for the past several months.
The theory behind the "Fast Days" are to give the digestive system a break and reduce the Growth Hormone which leads to Ageing and related issues like Cancer, Alzheimers and a few other things.
The understanding of this study was that with high IGF-1 levels, replication of cells takes place including reproduction of defective ones with all of their faults.
When IGF-1 levels are reduced to the lower part of the range then only repair of existing cells takes place.
The diet itself works absolutely fine for me. It was initially difficult for the first couple of weeks but now it feels very natural. I have no problem working out and I have recently finished a 12 week cycle of Test-e with no evident side effects.
I look forward to any thoughts on this.

rotzputzen007I am fasting myself for 36h straight one day a week (basically not eating 1 day and skipping all 3 meals). I love it
To your question: Fasting (leangains, Intermittent fasting, warrior diet ect.) all INCREASE HGH output drastically. Many of GH effects come from IGF-1 though. After a HGH release the body uses insulin do build IGF-1 molecules, so HGH should increase IGF-1 output, BUT all the different variation of fasting DECREASE insulin levels. So there is a increase in HGH, but without the effects of IGF-1, since the body can not produce IGF-1 efficiently, because insulin is recquired.
If your goal is to maximize HGH effects including the effects of IGF-1, you need to have a carbohydrate-rich meal about an hour after HGH injection so that your body is able to produce IGF-1.
In sum, during fasting your body switches to "repair mode" due to high HGH levels, but if your not starving your self especially on carbohydrates your body changes to "growth mode" due to high IGF-1.
I hope this helps
