Protein Levels In Blood Low. Cause? Steriods?
ad
A blood plasma bank opened in my city and I went there to donate last week. Initial testing on my protein level was 6.3 Satisfactory is 6-9 but it came back from the lab at 5.7. I'm trying to figure out what could be causing my protein level to be low. I drink 60 -120 grams of whey a day. Eat 2-3 chobani yogurts a day at 12 grams each plus red meat daily and tuna fish 3 days a week. Oh yeah I'm on 300 test cyp & 300 Deca a week. On week 4. I am bumping my whey up to 120 -180 grams a day just don't understand why I'm low. I plan on seeing a doc next week.

I just re-read through all of the comments and noticed you gained 15 lbs in the 1st month, the majority of that is water, muscle simpley doesnt grow that fast and even when muscle does grow you get 3lbs of water for every l1b of muscle. You might want to check your estro level with that much water gain that quicky i would predict high estro from heavy aromisization , you could beone of those whi is very senstive to aromotization of test into oestro. and yes that fast of an increase in water weight can effect your protein level and dramatically raise you BP, you werent by chance donating blood in an attempt to lower your blood volume and thereby lower your blood pressure ? , which is why high bp patients are given dieuretics like lasiks not told to donate blood, your protein is a solute and your plasma the solvent, they test how much protein is in a given sample of blood but you have basically watered down that sample with such a dramatic in crease in fluid level so quickly and I would place my bet on thats why your level is lower than expected, but most importantly out of all this brother is get your oestrogen levels checked , I cant see a proper AI protocol in place with that level of water bloat that fast and read the forums on proper AI use.
Protein levels in your blood do not direclty correlate to the protein you are eating, you dont have whey protein floating around in your blood or cow protein from your last hamburger. You digest all protein down into amino acids and your cells use these to create/build new protein based on blueprints in your cell's DNA. Everyone is different based on their own DNA and health status, thats why an average is used and not a specific level. Anabolic steroids help build up cells/tissue and catabolic steroids break them down, the body tries to balance these two processes. One of the major benefits of anabolic steroids is the increase in protien synthesis to build muscle size while slowing down the catabolic processes that break muscle down shifting the balance much more in favor of both building and retaining muscles , you cant grow new muscle cells with anabolic steroids only make the cells bigger. Proteins are used all over the body for everything imaginable, Protein attracts water and is how your body keeps water in the blood and balanced all over the body, thats why patients with liver failure or starving ethiopians on tv have bloated stomachs, their livers arent producing enough of the protein albumin, to keep the water from pooling in the abdomen causing them to bloat. for the liver failure patients their liver simply cant do it for those starving its a lack of amino acids from not eating protein to break down into amino acids The trick is to monitor your level over an extrended period of time to see if it changes or 5.7 is just your baseline level. 98.6 is the average baseline body temp, we all think we are suppose to have 98.6 but there are lot of people below and above that so when a patient is in the hospital to be accurate you have to repeatedly test and get their baseline average, its that way with most tests. And the averages that are all used for regference were developed in the 1950's and 1960 on college students who the vast majority if not all were white males in their early 20's but we now know all races and ethinc groups are different as are patienent who happen to be female based on DNA so that is why 5.7 doesnt elcit alot of alarm, 5.7 is still enough for your body to function properly and could be perfect for you depending on your DNA, if your normal baseline was much higher and dropped it would be cause for alarm as somthing had happened to cause that drop, basically your pretty safe brother and the best bet would be go back in 3 months and see what if any change has happened. If your by chance currently using a heavy oral like dbol, anadrol etc.. or taking excessive amounts of tylenol or happen to binge drink on a regular basis, these things can effect your livers ability to produce protein and you should wait until those clear out and your liver stablizes then re-test your levels.
Assuming the test was accurate and given your high protein diet, I would head off to a doctor bro. You might want to get a CBC blood test yourself and then see a doc or let him order it. There is something wrong. Liver disease, kidney disease and hypothyroidism all cause this just for a few examples. There are even far worse and more frightening problems that will cause low protein. Don't judge anything by how you "feel." You need to get to the bottom of this. Glad to see you are going to the doc.
So I go to the walk in clinic today and tell the doc my story and he says at 5.7 there is nothing wrong with me and that's it. He said if it would make me feel better to come back in 3 months and they would check my levels then but if I feel fine that there is nothing wrong. Should I go to my primary? I have insurance and the place wasn't busy so I don't see why he would of said that if he didn't believe it. Just kind of puzzled he didn't want to run tests
It is not so far out of range that it couldn't be normal for YOU. I get his point. For me, I would at least want a CBC blood test to confirm. If you have to go to your primary for that, then go. The blood test will check your liver and kidneys and other things. If you were not taking in so much protein in your diet I would just leave it alone. But, with your diet, I would want to know why my blood protein is out of range.
Yeah exactly.
What was the break down of the 5.7? Protein Total is a measurement of Albumin and Gloublin. What were those measurements?
Not sure. I didn't get a print out and I didn't ask and she didn't say. Been doing some reading and it seems if anything the aas should have it raised so that has me a little worried. I have gained 15lbs in the last month so I'm hoping that maybe that's the reason. Going to start slamming down egg whites for breakfast cause they are 100% albumin and that seems to be the major protein in blood plasma. Also going to the doc this week if I can get in.
How do you feel? Are you lethargic at all? Are you gaining any weight?
Not lethargic. have plenty energy. Go to work and the gym without any problem and I have gained 15lbs. In the first month.
