+ 4 Men today are weaker

ad

I guess its a fact now. This generation is weaker than the previous generation. Predicted to only get worse.

Failed father Lmao!! Oh how the democrats would scold you for not letting them kids decide their gender... hell them boys could have been really top level gamers or tiktok inluencers.

That’s awesome bro! What styles do they compete in? American Kenpo here.

Nah it just just the last part that got me.

I just don't want to picture your daughter with a dick. Don't do that to me.

It's the sugar/carbohydrates in diet. The more carbs you eat as a young person the more your body stops using fats as a fuel source. Fats = cholesterol. Cholesterol = sex hormones.

Look at young men today at 5-10 years old. They all have bitch tits.

I remember as a kid eating captain crunch for breakfast and a soda/donut at school. Maybe a little chicken with my dinner. 85-90% carbs/sugar 15-10% protien.

Fats are the natural "steroid" source in a diet for a young persons development.

There is no awareness.

To many males of all ages got bitch tits, especially the kids in their teens.
I can remember a handful of kids at high school being fat, there a handful in every class now. Being a chubby kid is looked upon as normal.

This is a great topic, I have 2 boys 2 girls. Our relationships are strained, I wasn’t the worst father, but far from the best. I also have a penchant for mentally Ill women who are uninhibited in bed. Moving on, my daughters are cunts, sure to make any man miserable, my sons are pussies. Both of them. I failed, both of their mothers are on various meds for their issues, but I don’t judge. I could’ve done better but lawyers were getting expensive. Anyway, yes. I’m sure the WW1 guys looked at the next generation and called them pussies. The WW2 era guys, well, probably didn’t look at the Korean War guys as pussies, that was a bad deal. Then Nam, Grenada, the dozens of small conflicts, then Iraq and Afghanistan. I don’t agree with war in general, my references are for time frames only. But today? May 23rd 2023? We’re fucked! I’m a man. I’m a beef jerky eating, pistol carrying, hold a door open for the next person MAN. I cry. If it’s a sad movie, a wedding, getting bad news? I will cry. Not ball like a baby, but I’ll allow some tears. But this new generation? Pussies. Why is it so bad to be a man now? A meat eating, weight lifting, trying to fix shit yourself even if you get shocked a couple times by electricity. Seriously, wtf?
(Sorry if I ranted but I’m passionate about this, my son recently bought a car that looks like an actual penis. Looks like Goldmember in the fucking thing. Fuck.)

ONESICK's picture

What's wrong with crazy bitches? Lol

JakeKO's picture

Ugh, I changed a light switch yesterday and got shocked at least three times. I hate that shit, and no, I ain’t cutting off the power to change a damn switch, LOL

Drexyl's picture

It’s always the same, 3 steps back, shaking your hand, yelling “Fuck”. I’ll be damned if I pay a licensed guy 80 bucks to do this lol. Electricity is a very much let you know what’s up thing isn’t it? Make you rub your face after you get hit by it lmao.

I just bought one of those hand strength things on Amazon that 80's kids always had that's gotta be the missing link.

ONESICK's picture

There's different levels to them things. Generally hand strength is linked to longevity, and overall health. Like you have a stornger grip the healthier the heart. Also cardiovascular health. At one point I was regularly doing 200lbs. I wanted to get to 300lb grips. Check on Amazon they have varying levels. I usually warm up with 125lb ones. Also helps with lifting heavy. Makes it a lot easier.

Here is my critique as a scientist:

  1. The main evidence used in this article is using a 2016 study from the Journal of Hand Therapy, this information is not particularly new. The journal in question had an impact factor of 0.92 in 2016 and has increased to 1.9 at the current date, impact factor is a measure of how often a certain journal's articles are cited by other research, and the numbers here are low meaning that this research has not been particularly important in having an influence on future studies. Generally speaking journals with an impact factor under 3.0 are much easier to publish in, journals above 3.0 are thought to be of higher quality and more selective, but this is not set in stone. This is the first hint that the research might be of dubious quality, which is further proven when looking at this paper's data presentation which is very sloppy.

  2. I have access to the article through my academic institution so I can read what the actual methods/data are and if this news article correctly reports information. The study uses a convenience sample of students age 20-34 at university settings in North Carolina: 154 women and 83 men (not particularly large sample). The news report fails to mention that the majority of participants were women. The researchers collected basic demographic information about age, gender, smartphone usage, and upper arm pain/injury, but "no further information was obtained due to participants reporting being full-time students with assumed similar roles/daily activities". This is problematic because socioeconomic, occupational, ethnic background, fitness lifestyle information, etc, may have been important for a better understanding of the volunteer group. This is important because the study's design is to compare their results directly to a 1985 study by Mathiowetz from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In the 1985 study, they had 628 volunteers (310 men, 318 women) age 20-94 from a wide variety of locations in the Milwaukee region (urban, suburban, rural), not limited to university students only. Therefore, there is likely an inclusion of occupational groups in the 20-34 age bracket which were NOT university students, and could have had jobs involving manual labor of some sort. It should go without saying that if you look at an average group of male university student computer nerds in the modern age with no manual labor experience vs. a mixed population of young men in 1985 who have actual jobs which require physical activity.. it is not an equivalent comparison. The researchers even admit this potential bias in their "limitations" section.

  3. The news story goes on to say "researchers believe that the same test will show even bleaker results among Gen Z and future generations", but the actual scientists say no such thing anywhere in the article. Of course we can assume that as society moves towards digital jobs and manual labor is replaced by machines we will see less strength in the general population, but this has nothing to do with the "softness of the generation" or a "failure of genetics". Outside of the scope of this story we can look at things like widespread microplastic exposure increasing estrogenic effects in men in the modern age, or the fact that the general population has gotten substantially fatter over time due to poor food options despite similar levels of physical activity, but these additional factors are completely ignored here. On the flip side, we could also address the fact that newer generations are lucky to not be exposed to the same levels of Lead that Baby Boomers were, which is responsible for decreasing the IQ of Boomers and causing a number of other adverse health outcomes, point being that it's important to not have rose-tinted glasses looking at the past.

In conclusion: I don't think the interpretation here is that "new generations are weaker from being unmanly pussies", it's that modern societal & occupational changes have led to less strength being required by men as a group while not extending to all individuals. In other words, not every single 30yr old millenial male is weaker than every 30yr old in 1985, you just have a bunch of tech nerds dragging down the average while in the past it was dragged up by men doing manual labor. Another important point that was never brought up in the news post is this -- Women of certain age brackets were also weaker when compared to the 1985 cohort, so this is not all just about men today being weaker, it's about humans as a group requiring less strength to get by in modern society. This is precisely why it is important to incorporate a fitness routine/lifestyle for healthy living since daily life is not as physically demanding for the average person anymore, always remember that we evolved as hunter/gatherer tribes constantly on the move so we are genetically geared for regular physical activity.

good to look at it with a glass half full perspective instead of half empty

He's clearly someone you don't want to have a debate with Lol

BrainsNGainz's picture

Given that part of my job is interpreting science I'd like to think I'm decent at it lol.
That being said, I'm not going to debate a pro bodybuilder on things like optimal training regimines and the complexities of contest prep hahaha

That was a very thoughtful post. Thanks for the contribution.

ONESICK's picture

It's soy ass parents raising soy ass men lol. In all seriousness, being a 'man" is now deemed as being a bad thing. Testosterone is being demonized by many. In my opinion I think it's being done on purpose. Men have to be in touch with their feminine side so we're told. With this "gender" being put on a spectrum. Shit is out of hand. I hate bringing politics into this but it's true. Kids are coddled today. Participation trophies are a thing. Eating meat is bad. Etcetera etcetera....I could go on forever.

I was fortunate enough to be raised in a family that hard work is basically mandatory. If you aren't a hard worker then you're viewed as a bum. Though I have a fighting background, I also work labor intensive jobs. It drives me absolutely nuts to not be busy. My last job which I was at for over a decade we did a small study. Out of 100 men who came through, 3 or 4 would stay. Most of the reasoning why they left was the work is too hard. Majority of which were in their early 20s. It's just these generations are being raised weak. I've literally broke my foot in a fight and went to work two days later hobbling around lol. No days off for me.

I try to raise my boys with this mindset. My eldest, who is in his teens is falling into a BS trap every now and then. Schools teaching kids to be pussies and hug it out. I make him do hard work every now and then to keep him humble. He was a bit coddled by my wife and my mom. So I do what I can to break him of that. My youngest, he's just an absolute animal. He loves danger and isn't afraid to take risks. He wasn't nearly as coddled as my other kids. He was raised slightly different as I told my wife I didn't want him to be a pussy lol. She thinks I'm a bit crazy but too many boys are pussified these days.

JakeKO's picture

I completely agree! Not my boys! They are both meat eating bad asses. They both train hard, and understand what it means to be a man, be tough, and the responsibility of being able to physically, emotionally, and financially protect the ones you love. At first Mom was a little protective, and thought I was being two hard on them. But now, Mom gets to smile with her head held high when everyone compliments our sons for being such well mannered, respectful, and handsome young men. Best dressed everywhere we go, and well groomed at all times. I’m extremely proud of the men they are becoming. Their friends on the other hand, a bunch of Mooks! Complete mommafied pussies, smh! They’re not my problem though, thank God!!!!

Current “social trends” are not helping the situation either.

Yeah, and the other ladies are shooting test by the gram trying to grow dicks. This world is so fucked up! The internet gave pussies a loud voice in today’s society. It’s up to us to not listen and raise our children our way. I have some friends my own age that have completely bought in to this whole pussifying you kids bullshit. These are guys that stood beside me in some nasty fist fights back in the day. I don’t even want my kids anywhere near theirs in fear it will rub off
