Training Setbacks- Legs
ad
Damn, hate when this happens. Today was squat day. My name "indabasement" is a reference to where I take my squats and I love squat day. No other movement packs on mass like them. Anyway stretched well, did warm up set with 135, 225 x 10, 245 x 10, and was set to hit 275. First rep felt great with lots of explosion but about 3/4 of the way up felt a tweak in upper/inner thigh area but not quite in groin. Had to stop and I was pissed. Been icing all day and have a knot and soreness. Think its just a strain though. Anyone ever feel something like this in thigh area? Sucks getting old.

i usually get a bit of strain in that area when training legs, but never any injury.
one of my mates actually did get a strain that that inner thigh and it took a while to recover.
regular doses of an anti-inflammatory will help a lot, because inflammation in the area will slow down recovery.
Also try a hot pack instead of a cold pack, you want to increase blood flow so that you can heal.
Using a cold pack will decrease blood flow and slow down recovery.
Ive had a few to many injuries and the above always works well for me, i usually take the anti-inflammatories at double the recommended dosage.
I here ya when you say it sucks getting old
AnonYou risk sending yourself to the hospital with a gastrointestinal bleed by DOUBLING the recommended dosage..there is a reason why they have dosage written on the bottle ...
Good point hrdbdygrrrrrrl. I actually havent used any NSAID's yet for the injury. Did some walking yesterday on treadmill to loosen up. Ice first 24 and now heat. Basic injury treatment for me for first 24 hours - RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Seems to be healing quick.
Thanks for input. I only did the ice for first 24. Reduces swelling after initial tweak. I hear ya on the heat though. Will def be hitting heat to promote blodd flow and healing. Actually doesnt feel too bad on day 2. Might miss one leg day.
