Squats Aid Help

ad

Hi All.

2 years ago I tore both of my rotator cuffs and after the surgery to have them reattached and then the LONGGGG healing process of almost eight months I got, let's say, most, of my shoulder movements back. I can raise my arms above my head, I can push a can up my back, (Yes, the insurance doctors actually use a can to test your injury before they sign the check), and I can Shoulder Dumbbell Press 75lbs when working out.

The issue I do have is the flexibility in my shoulders when I'm squatting.

I can't get my arms to go back far enough to grip the bar properly.

I've been doing front chest squats and as a mark, it's a good exercise for the front of the quads, but it still doesn't, 'Feel', safe when I'm doing them, so my poundage's are slipping. I'm only front squatting 225lbs.

I've been advised that there is an aid that fits onto the bar that assists you with your arm placement when doing the usual squats, but for the life of me I am unable to find this contraption.

Has ANYONE heard of it and knows what it's called? Or better, has anyone ever used such an item and what do/did you think of it?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Try squatting with your arms straight out to the side holding the plates at first and work into bringing them in over time. Are you stretching with a broomstick doing rotations? That will help a lot. Also, be sure to ice all the friggin time as the capsule gets real tight as it gets inflamed and this can occur easier if you have existing trauma to the area. Also, for teh front squats to alleviate some shoulder stress you can use wrist wraps around the bar and hold them as the bar is racked. Its the only way I can do them as well as a lot of heavy and super heavies.

When doing the traditional squat, the only way I can do them is by holding onto the plates themselves, Mate. And whenever I workout I do at least 20 minutes of warm ups along with concentrated stretching/bending for whatever part of the body I'm working out that day.

As for the ice, it's my best Mate whenever I work shoulders so I understand the benefits of the stuff.

But I should be getting this Manta Ray aid in on Tuesday, so fingers crossed I can get back to some serious lifting again instead of looking like an old man with light weights

Good luck brother. Ive had an still have really serious problems in both shoulders which essentially killed my olympic lifting career, and continuously hampers my powerlifting career but I just keep on punching. You didnt mention whether your using the broomstick. I find that helps me tremendously and is a staple in the olympic lifting community where we are required to have some crazy ass shoulder flexibility. You can use a towel too just be prepared as they tend to rip, lol. Since were talking rehab a man so inclined might also invest in some HGh or igf1 shot into the shoulders as well as high dose EQ for a long term, like 6 months or more. Deep dissue massage also helps, as well as fascial plainning with this metal device that breaks up scar tissue in the muscle. That shit is almost like magic bro.

Apologies, Mate.

I DO do the broomstick exercise, but I use a mini bar, which only weights about 2 lbs to do my stretching, along with LOTS of hanging to stretch out too. Using your own body weight, I find, is totally sufficient when I'm just, 'Hanging around', and stretching out.

In regards to your own shoulder injuries, is it both rotator cuffs for you too? Because having an injury affect your Olympic Career, I TRULY feel and certainly commiserate for you, Mate.

In regards to juice, I have just started back on cycle that is going to go for 22 weeks, and a BIG part of it does contain EQ. As well as the obvious appetite help I've always found it to be an exceptionally good, 'Oiler', for the joints too.

As for deep tissue massage, I'm too ticklish, Mate. I can't stop laughing and giggling when the masseuse gets to work. LOL.

Ohh yeah, minibar is cool too. Yeah its both shoulders. Ive already had one surgery and I am trying to avoid two more and have been doing prtty good to that effect after rehab and copious amounts of the aforementioned compounds. The deep tissue can tickle, but the plainning thing man, it hurts like a son of a bitch and leaves massive bruising and welts for a week or so but works oh so gooood. The shoulder issues kept me out of th olympics to be honest with you some twenty years ago and now they just keep me from enjoying what I love by being little bitches.

"The deep tissue can tickle" LOL

Mate, my laughs bellow out when someone tries massaging me. So the bruising part, I've never got as far as. LOL.

But the, "being little bitches", part, I truly KNOW what you're saying, Mate.

When I first did my left rotator cuff, and the doc first told me that it'll take 6-8 months to repair AFTER the reattachment surgery and the surgery would take 3 weeks BEFORE I could have it because of the inflammation, I was like, "Really? 6-8 months? I'll be up within 2 weeks. You watch".

5 months along and I was still in an arm brace.

Then one night, I go and reach for the remote control to change the channel and BANG. The right rotator cuff snaps like an elastic band, and I knew IMMEDIATELY what I'd done.

I couldn't even wipe my own butt, Mate.

Now, nearly two years latter, I'm still as stiff as a board in the side delt and shoulder when I get up some mornings, especially when I've had a particularly high set/rep shoulder workout the day before.

(I sound like a right old git, but I'm not. Honest LOL)

THAT'S IT.

That's the one I was told about.

'Manta Ray'. At bl**dy last. It's been driving me nuts for days.

Credit card and Amazon.com, here I come.

BIG Thanks, Mate.

I can handle the bar on the traps because I use a heavy pad. It's just getting the arms back to steady the bar that has me in trouble.

But according to Amazon.com I should be sorted next Tuesday because that's the day of the delivery. Bought and paid for, Mate.

Erm....Didn't I mention above that I was doing them already?

LOL. That's okay, Mate Smile
