Pain across top rim of patella

ad

When doing knee extension I have pain across the upper edge of the patella. Hard to put any stress on the quad because of acute pain when I bend the knee and place resistance on knee extension. Not ligament or meniscus. I'm thinking it could be like a shin splint type of micro tear injury. Doesn't hurt when I run. Could it be tightness in IT band or quad muscles? Maybe from shooting quads and not stretching or foam rolling. Foam roller seems to help a little bit. Anybody having a similar pain and remedy it? Prior to having this pain was on a cycle with deca and was trying hard to blast quads. May have caused micro tears in the top of patellar tendon is the only thing I can think. Maybe a more experienced member has some insight. Thanks guys.

Hard to tell from your description, but it sounds like a bit of tendinitis. You can do things for the immediate pain (ice, nsaid, etc.), but it just takes time to get better. I'd lay off the extensions for quite a while. It can take months and months to get better, so be prepared.

Sounds like a bit of inflammation. Just take it easy for a couple of days. Try stretching during your off time.

Managing the inflammation with ice. No NSAIDs. Currently on 3rd week of a 5/3/1 mesocycle and have been skipping squat day pretty much because of pain. Have pain on dead lift day. But mitigate with ice.
