"L sit" pull ups?
So today at the gym while doing my regular weighted pull ups some guy comes up and asks me if he can work in. Of course me being the nice person I am do agree to let him do so. Funny thing. He did these weird pull ups where his legs were bent to parallel with the floor.
I've heard of these and seen them online briefly, but mostly just blew them off because I had my dip belt and I was perfectly happy with regular old weighted pull ups. But this sort of sparked an interest in these things.
Unfortunately there seems to be like no information whatsoever on them. EXRX which is my normal go to for these kinds of things let me down and has nothing on the subject.
Does anyone know benefits of doing these. Obviously you'll be isometrically contracting your abs so you'll probably get a little more ab work, but other than that is there any other benefit. I plan on doing a trial set of them next time I'm at the gym and just wanted to hear people's opinions on this exercise.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ptero

it will def help your core out, when you do a couple of sets you will notice for sure
RustyhookerIt will boost the intercostals.
Terephthalic Pt...At the risk of sounding stupid. What exactly would strengthening your intercostals do? I'm not very familiar with the muscle.
waltrthink of a gymnast.
RustyhookerIt gives a great finished look by tying in the serratus to the abs and intercostals. Helps guard ya for contact sports like boxing/kickboxing etc. Another variation of core workouts. I might be able to post a pic link to give visual idea. My smartphone isn't always so smart.
Terephthalic Pt...I'm familiar with what the muscle is and where it's located. I just didn't know if it helped as a stabilizer or something in certain exercises or something. I know it has something to do with breathing, but I'm not sure if strengthening would affect that at all or whether it may be a positive or negative thing.
RustyhookerThis page show a couple basic pics. There's better pix out there. For bbuilding it gives better look. When i boxed it saved the ribs a ton.
