+ 4 Common mistakes with bench press
ad
This is something I read and I believe that it is very important that everyone knows the correct form for bench press. None of us want to deal with the shoulder pain that can come from using the wrong form. Of course none of us want a unnecessary injury also so I felt I should post this up for all my brothers at eroids.

I know this post will have all the 20 somethings upset with me but my thought is performing the bench press period, is a mistake. Its purley an ego lift, probably the biggest ego lift in the gym! U want chest growth?? Pick up a couple dumbells and hit presses, incline, flat and decline :-)
Have a nice day!!
bigmurphIn my workout I do definitely include incline and decline but I do the flat and decline bench with the barbell I use dumbbells when I do my incline.
I believe that flat bench is definitely important for working your trust in muscles. I also believe that other chest workouts are just as important.
Do you really skip bench press entirely or do you just use a bench and then use dumbbells to do your bench press
I like that you said your honest point of view it starts a conversation on how important it is or isn't +1
.
Yessir, I bench incline decline flat but only with dumbells. I get better overall muscle fatigue in chest and auxillary muscles...tris, delts, ect. Ill occasionally hope on smith machine and do close grip barbell presses, machine being my spotter plus I like the way that particular machine lets u focus the lift soley in tris and chest, the muscles I want to hit...mostly tris.
I swear...something around 1% or less of the circulating gym population really knows how to correctly bench press. Pays to pay a coach if you really wanna know more. Reputable coach, like a powerlifting coach...not some shitty personal trainer.
++points for posting positive shit!!
bigmurphI appreciate that brother and its really true I learned because I was an athlete but if it weren't for the real coaches I had im sure I would just go by what I have seen which like you said is wrong a large percentage of the time
no problem man
saw this posted on the homepage as I logged out and logged back in just to see what ya posted
Anddddd...guess what??? I am a coach...a LIFTING coach, so yea...I DO know
bigmurphSo what do you think about the article I tried to find one that was better to try to show other members the proper technique. I personally don't think this is the best article. I do hope that some members got something from it but I see it only got 60+ views so it wasn't very popular.
Can I ask you a question my lifts for my shoulders. I like to do a seated shoulder press. Do you reccomend a different lift for me because I notice that on some of my lifts my shoulder pops on the right side. I pretty sure that means im not doing it correctly. I was curious what would you recommend as a substitute for this lift.
Thanks brother i appreciate any help you can give me its also great to know that you are a lifting coach if I were to have any questions would you mind if I pm you?
Thanks brother
+1 for the comments this is what eroids is about i have noticed a drop in good information im glad guys like you are around.
I don't know what your form looks like on the overhead press. But, whether it's a barbell, dumbbell, or machine, if I had to suggest one thing to get your shoulder to stop popping, it would be this: as the weight is being pressed overhead, the entire shoulder girdle should be going up with it. i.e., you should be "shrugging" your traps towards the ceiling as you press to avoid the acromion process putting pressure on the clavicle.
Again, I have not seen your form, so this a shot in the dark here, but IMO this is the most common OHP mistake.
Def not the best article.
It has some good points tho, which is why I commented.
Yes we can start a convo in pm for you specifically.
BUT....shoulder popping could mean a variety of things. And no point in doing an exercise if its doing more harm than good. Plenty of alternatives for shoulders, including diff presses, to work thru or around this better. PM me
ZandaGood read brother +1
Always looking for ways to protect my shoulders, especially with barbell bench press
bigmurphI thought this was a good one. Especially lately I have seen members complain about shoulder pain most likely from bad form.
Thanks brother
