+ 6 A way to break through a barrier at the gym
I think think a lot of guys have missed the value of a full body workout 3-4 days a week . If bodybuilding isn't your thing and you want to get stupid strong and add this mass to your frame, try a full body work out with maximum intensity and weight.
I took this work out and modified it from Arnold's golden six, I will use this when i am prepping for a strength event, key here is the last 2 reps should be all you can do with good form to get the weight up.
Barbel squat 5 sets 6 reps
Wide grip bench press 5sets 6 reps
Military press barbel 5sets 6 reps
Barbel curl 5sets 6 reps
(Take a grip just wider than your shoulders )
Chin ups till you can't force another one up
(As many as you can do)
Weighted sit up 120 pound dumbel held to your chest
( till you can't do another , then loose the weight and burn out with body weight)
Hope this helps a few guys also I will vary it some but but max weight and sets never change . Big key here is that rest day and food I can't stress this enough eat big grow big.. You don't grow in the gym you grow outside it

Wanna give this a try gym. I just don't have 120lbs DB
Are you doing it at home or the gym?
Home guess I could use 45plate instead or too light ?
That or guy buy 2 50 pound bag of sack Crete
Interesting indeed I may try this to see how it fares also
You won't add a lot of size but it will deff make you stronger
Yeah it seems to be geared more for strength but who doesn't wanna be stronger
Nice little write up. Seems I will try this and switch up my routine a little. I still go for the pump and constinst tension as well.
What's your rest periods between sets? I usually rest 3 min. between sets and exercises when I do something similar to this, only difference is I did deadlifts instead of chinups to work back.
No more than a min is what I shoot for
I've done this as low as 2 minutes between sets but I never tried 1 minute. One minute is not much time to recover when going heavy for 5 sets. Do you drop the weight?
No sir.. It's all mind over matter 1 min is plenty of time just have to get your mind right
Lol. I'll give it a shot and see how I respond. One last question: Do you use a weight that makes it hard to get the last two reps of each 6 rep set? In other words do you use a weight that's equivalent to your 6 rep max?
Pretty much I want that last two reps to be a struggle to get up so I know I'm breaking down those fibers
Sounds good, thanks.
