Veganism?

ad

Always been a regular meat eater, nothing extreme but the thought of vegans used to make me sick and I compared them to a sect. Then I watched The Game Changers on Netflix and, what a hell of plot twist now, I'm ready to try going full on vegan.

Anyone here done it recently, did it make a difference to how you feel etc?

I am not vegan but have a different take.Prisoners get what they get because they are being punished. We are stewards to animals and should treat them humanly up until the point we kill them. It’s not only the right thing to do it also makes for healthier food.Factory farming is not humane or healthy.Granted I pay more for what I eat but for me it’s worth it.

Hey now careful on ya jail and prison people, I grew up in a shit hole ghetto of a major city , and I’ve been locked up for nothing NUMEROUS times and had to sit just cuz it was between me and the light skinned Mexicans... no offense to Mexicans just saying yards away we blend, that was before my actually crime sprees began.. prolly made me want to at least risk my own freedom for a buck and not fall down for some one else just cause of circumstance, feel ya though bro not everyone in jail is there by choice , or mistake, probably more take a seat for nothing than you might think, for some it’s a way of life. I don’t care what no one does as long as what you do don’t mess with what I do, Smile

Manshit's picture

I’m not sure what to think of that.I know that some are in jail that shouldn’t be there and many are there for drug crimes, which probably shouldn’t be illegal but most are there paying a debt to society.I also said prison which is a little different than jail. That being said the actual animals are there just to be eaten. We owe it to them to treat them as humanely as possible until that happens.

true bro I agree, but supplying everyone with Free range grass fed beef is just not in the cards economically or really geographically considering the land it would use.

Manshit's picture

It actually uses less land than growing beans and buckwheat.Much less land.

addicted.to.pain's picture

and soy beans are the main crop being pushed to replace meat, so Im gonna need the vegans to explain the economics of that to me because I don't see it.

Manshit's picture

That’s only in America and Asia.In virtually the whole rest of the world it is the chick pea and quinoa or other high protein grains like buckwheat and amaranth.I love black beans but could not live on them!

What you said I can agree with.

There's nothing in any US state prison that would surprise someone who went through the inmate riot at Santa Maria Ixcotel Prison back in 98 (don't smuggle drugs). I've hunted, that's kid stuff. I could go on about not needing life lessons from anyone without mentioning being shot at in Angola, etc so I'll stop here.

I simply have respect for anyone who tries in their way to lessen the sum total of pain in this world. There's enough already.

That's all.

you make great points, my bad I come off a bit preachy sometimes.

Interesting debate in the comments section though.

I love how not all of you got my sarcasm in the original post :-) Another plot twist.

Unfortunately, you can't get enough high quality protein fro ma vegan diet in order to build your optimum physique!

Bulkdaddy's picture

I think talking about this is almost as bad as talking about politics on here. You won’t be shit by being a vegan. The guys that eat meat will always out do you. Period.... I like my steak rare!

High carb day for me tomorrow. It’s because it’s leg day. Most guys here wouldn’t know about that though. Lol you would never hit your numbers by eating bird seed!

I do have admiration for those who make the moral decision to minimize their part in the pain and suffering that is part and parcel of the commercial meat industries today.

Pain and suffering of what/who?....

parks's picture

Animals. I've known enough folks unfortunate enough to have had to take jobs slaughter plants and as turkey hangers to know those are horror houses. Stock animals generally live stunted little lives in cramped and unsanitary conditions, simply to die screaming in fear.

I get it that some folks don't give a shit about the misery animals, and often even other people, go through. That takes empathy, which we are not all in possession of.

Home farms are certainly better than commercial operations. Generally much more humane.

"Veganism" aka "pussyism"

We are omnivores, we are not herbivores. We require a diet of both animal and plant based nutrition.

Every vegetarian or vegan I have ever seen looks very deficient , while they are technically surviving on only plant derived nutrition . They require constant supplementation of the nutrients they are constantly lacking from meat and other animal nutrition. How many vegetarian marathon running anal retentive psychos are gonna drop dead from heart attacks before people realize "Veganism" is a bad idea. We evolved to eat meat end of story.

Fuck netflix and there politically biased documentaries.

If Arnold Schwarzenegger had been a vegan his whole life no one would know his name

This ^^^^^ It's true. The whole Vegan thing is a wank IMO. Why do people who make a dietary change suddenly become animal activists?

Answer: because they have nothing at all, no achievements, in their life that defines them, so they latch onto 'Veganism' because it draws attention to their pitiful and unimportant life and gives it 'meaning' - or so they believe.

I eat meat occasionally - I don't go out and try to convert Vegetarians/Vegans to eating meat and certainly don't protest their dietary choices in supermarkets and so forth.

But, like reformed alcoholics/smokers and born again believers who have seen the 'light' - they just HAVE to try to convert you to their belief.

Documentaries like that are 90 minute commercials spun to fit an opinion or school of thought. There’s always another side. Besides I like meat, and no one ever got real big or real strong eating no animals... aside from gorillas. I’m not a gorilla.

Plus, if it’s the environmental angle, animal farming doesn’t even put a dent in greenhouse emissions. I don’t remember the exact number but agriculture (plants and animals) only account for like 4% (or some single digit number close to that), and animal farming is only responsible for a very small portion of that. So you’d actually have more of an impact going full carnivore. The real problem is that there’s too many fucking people and no one has the balls to talk about population control. People need to stop having so many god damn kids. Especially the people that can barely take care of themselves.

If it’s the animal cruelty and living conditions you’re worried about, Just get responsibly raised organic stuff or hunt your own food. I go with option A, unless I want a really good steak... cuz there’s no such thing as grass fed grass finished Prime steak.

Begs the question. Is going vegan and not growing cows produce less or more methane, greenhouse gases?
In other words, how many bean eating vegans does it take to equal 1 cow?

My hunch is; going vegan will cause global warming at a much faster rate.

levelup's picture

100% ...there is a population model study on all diets regarding sustainability and an omnivorous diet is the most sustainable with the largest carrying capacity

Not to mention all the small animals killed by farmers.Vegans seem to be making a moral choice but seem to favor Cows over mice moles rats and voles which farmer kill at an alarming rate.At least the cows get eaten.
