Refreshing Protein drink rather than dairy style shake?

ad

Does anyone know of a good protein powder or product where it produces more of a refreshing fruit juice style drink rather than a dairy style shake? Basically one that's more suitable for drinking during training that is thirst quenching rather than dehydrating and thick.

Isopure use to do a really nice Apple one that I use to get when I came over to the states years ago that was in RTD form but I don't think it exists now or can be bought over here at least that is more fruit juice style.

Ideally containing Isolate or Hydrolized whey :))

Hey D - Awesome stuff!

I think we may have just literally got this in over here as I've never seen it before - and now its all currently sold out too Lmao They are getting it back in stock though, we seem to have a few more flavours in than you guys such as 'Rainbow candy' Lol which I'm sure will be sweet and sickly. Great heads up Smile

Good shit. I’m gonna get the dragon fruit (or passion fruit? Can’t remember) and try it for Intra workout. I never drink anything but water during my workout. Could be cool to try a scoop of this protein with a scoop of dextrose or maltedextrin and see what’s up. Easy calories.

That’s a great brand too. That’s who I use for my casein and whey as well. They always score very high for accuracy and purity on labdoor.com

Well guy's I think I've found it Smile

This really is good stuff, not ideal for Post workout still as its too thin I feel when you want something a bit more satisfying and solid in your stomach like a normal shake - but for drinking in the day, Intra workout and just as a general drink I think its great:

https://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/peptopro.html

Its slightly bitter with it being Hydro Casein but when you add dextrose to it the sweetness masks it. Basically its a cross between BCAA's and milk protein. It works as quick as BCAA's do with taking away soreness and muscle healing but without all the acidic buildup you get in your stomach so no horrendous acid reflux if its something you suffer from.

Hopefully this will be useful to some...

Pepto? is it pink? Also says, "Pre-digested"... not sure I want to know that process. Are goats involved?

press1's picture

Lol It involves Cows & Goats mating and the resulting spawn providing the protein ....

I'm not buying it... the resulting spawns would be Coats.

Its nothing like normal Casein to consume with it being pre-digested. It doesn't sit in your stomach for hours on end, it's just in and out like a normal fruit juice. Only slight downside is it is quite bitter. The tropical is good so I've done another order with the mixed berry also, think the unflavoured would be a bit too much. Try it out for a change - I think you'd be impressed if you like those type of sweet flavours in things.

Have you considered getting medical grade protein powder and mixing it with fruit juice? I think it’s like 30 grams to a table spoon and unflavored. I’ve never tried this but it could be a good and cheaper Alternative to isopure.

Some of the recco's below look good. I'm ok with protein powder flavored mixed with water. I make it so it's not to thick!

Slowly's picture

It contains 50g of protein but is slightly expensive if you should use it every day.

Isopure Protein Drink at GNC has 40 grams whey protein per 20 oz bottle (they say it's one serving but I would argue it's 2 servings) about $3.75 per bottle, comes as a 12 pack (never tried it myself)

GNC ISOPURE® PROTEIN DRINK

I got anytime isopure apple melon protein RTD in glass bottles from Costco on sale but it’s still expensive even from there. 20 grams of whey isolate and it has a crisp taste that I would describe as refreshing. Also rekaged from caged muscle has a fruit punch flavor 100% whey isolate with creatine hci and a few recovery aminos added but it would be fine to consume intra workout. It’s not thick but I wouldn’t describe it as refreshing. There are also others but with every fruit flavored whey drink that you have to mix yourself that I have encountered, becomes about 85% foam on top of 15% liquid. Takes a while for the foam to settle. Don’t know why that is with every fruit flavored protein drink I’ve ever mixed and not with the milk like ones.

I honestly only drink milk and water and once in a while cranberry apple juice. I buy a gallon of chocolate milk and a gallon of 1% and mix them hits the spot after a fat pb and j

I’m fucking hungry

press1's picture

Flavoured milk is still great when you are thirsty and want protein at the same time, problem is when I have it during training it can start to make me feel tired and less motivated with the high BCAA content in it. They send me to sleep Lol

Yea. I wish it had more protein and less sugar. But it’s still good. Got me a case of the peach in yesterday.
