So my kids are grown and gone with their own families now so I probably won't see them until maybe the day after Christmas. The wife and I will do our thing first thing then it's off to Mom's for an amazing lunch with my brothers and Mom. I sure do miss having little kids running around the house like wild dogs opening presents from Santa and just having a great time.

Every family has that one person (Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, parent, etc) that is kinda like the glue that holds everything together. Once that person is removed from the equation, aka dies, holidays just aren't the same again family wise. Sure there's immediate family some here and there but the big festive get togethers begin to cease to exist. For most of the ppl I know, this seems to be the case. My family get together ripped apart at the seams about 20 years ago. It is what it is.
I've always enjoyed certain holidays like Xmas, Easter, Thanksgiving where nobody is on the road. Hardly a soul in sight! I like to take solo walks and have since I was a kid. Made me feel like the whole city/town was all for myself. Can hear a mouse piss on a piece of cotton in the middle of the day. I love it! Always spiritual for me.
I'll probably just spend the day with the wife. Maybe have to make a house call or two, but the days of a big Christmas and big family get togethers have long been over for me. And I'm cool with that! It's a bogus marketing holiday anyhow. Lol

I decided to be nice and invite my asshole parents over so they can critique my life some more even though I make more money then both of them combined legally. Mate - How much more Fun & Magical was Xmas Eve and the Day when we all Believed in Father Christmas!!!! It was amazing - I use to get all worried the night before that somehow he wouldn't fit down the chimney or even make it in time to my house LMAO I would be sat there firing all these questions at my Dad about 'What if this and what if that' HAHAHA I would always put out a mince pie and a glass of sherry for him and now I realise my fuckin Dad drank it!!!! LMFAOOO In the morning I'd be up a few hours before and I'd send my Dad down to make sure he had been as otherwise I would be too upset to go down if my presents hadn't arrived during the night
Those are the best memories. One year I left milk and cookies out for Santa and went to bed. I heard a noise and woke up to look and saw my Dad standing near the tree with a milk mustache. I got so angry at him for drinking Santas milk, but he told me Santa shared with him because he had a lot more houses to go to and there was plenty more milk for him. I have to make sure I dont make that same mistake with my kid lol
There's a side to this life that people don't see. There's a reason I've been able to keep at this so long. I don't socialize much, drive lambos or have a yacht, I don't let people get too close, I isolate and focus on the bigger picture. My christmas might not be eventful but because of what I do here, there's a lot of kids and families who will have a christmas and really, that's all that matters.
I must admit mate, when I have thought about all the considerations you must have to take into account when running a source - I have often wondered about how you keep things on a certain level with individuals that work with you and partners that must know what you do. Because lets face it, people can change and their loyalties can vanish into thin air. I guess on the business side its in everyones interest to keep stuum because everyone is at risk - but a vengeful woman or even normal woman can never keep a secret or their mouths closed. Same as a relationship, everything that was private or sacred seems to come out in the end.
This will be the first time I've gone home to spend Christmas with my whole family in over 10 years. Someone in the family (mostly me) has had drama to fuck it up until now
My time will be monopolized by my almost 4 year old nephew that just wants to wrestle and play monster trucks, so I'm pumped! But there will be tons of food and gift giving for Christmas Eve as well as Christmas day
