Looking for a good cheese sauce recipe!
ad
Back in high school my friends dad would make a sandwich called a Horseshoe. They were from Illinois and apparently it’s a big thing there. It’s a thick slice of toasted bread a burger patty topped with French fries and smothered in cheese sauce. They were incredibly delicious when he made them and I’ve really been craving them lately so I’m hoping some of you guys have made this before or have made a good cheese sauce you can share.

They started right here in springfield il.
There are a lot of different cheese sauces.
Butter in a pan put flour in with it on low heat, heat just the flour and butter for a few minutes by there self then add milk and cheddar cheese. Add milk if its to thick. Don't use too much flour either. Or you taste the flour to distinctly. I never appreciate horseshoes so much until we go out of state. D'arcys pint in springfield has the best horseshoes you will ever find anywhere period
Sounds easy enough I’m making them this weekend so I’m going to experiment with a few sauces. Thanks for posting
Velveeta cheese block and 2 cans of rotel tomatoes. I prefer the spicy kind.
I would use this on cheese steak sandwiches back in the day.
Really easy just drop the cut up block of velveeta into a pot dump in the cans of tomatoes and you got yourself a great cheese dip or sauce.
You can also just use a jar of salsa.
Ive heard people adding cream cheese to the mix also. Ive never tried it that way though
Edit
I just saw your other recipe so you know about rotel hot lol
Sounds good I was thinking velveta too sounds easy for the first time making these and I’m definitely going with the rotel hot. Thanks for posting
