I always love to see recipes because I’m always looking for new ideas. What kinds of rice seasoning do you prefer?

Gross!

Bland , flavorless, thrown together food is no way to go through life.

Thanks for posting but even reading this makes me lose my appetite.

PPGfreak's picture

The food I eat is based upon what my body needs and has nothing to do with flavor.

Dr.BroScience's picture

But why?

You are not a machine you are man. There is absolutely no reason to eat bland food in todays day and age.

By all means do what you like and what works for you.

But flavor does not mean adding addtional sugars , salts, butters, fats, or sauces. Flavor can be added by applying simple basic cooking techniques along with having a well stocked spice cabinet. I eat a clean diet and personally prepare my own food . Which is never rice cakes or plain egg whites over white rice.

If I am making a point to consume 4 to 6 whole meals a day you will be damn sure that every single one tastes delicious.

Throw up some of these tasty low fat recipes. Help a brother out. I eat low sodium so any like that would be appreciated.

I’m not being negative about it and I understand why most people do it. But taste to me isn’t something that’s important or even worth picking up added ingredients for it. Never mind the time it would take me to prepare different meals when I really don’t care. My typical meal will be chicken breast and white rice with nothing on it. I’m perfectly fine with that.

I didn’t have options growing up as a kid and then I joined the Marine Corps afterwards. Eating what I had to for survival purposes vs what I have now makes me feel spoiled. So honestly, flavor never comes in to my decision making process....

Thank you for your response . I understand you are not being negative. As long as you are doing what works for you that is what is most important.

Many people try to use the hardass approach and end up burning themselves out. The redundancy of similiar nonflavored meals become more of a chore than truly what it is. Which is a pleasure. In my experience dealing with trainers that fall off thier diet this is usually the reasonings as to why. People think of the term "diet" and go crazy sometimes. Thinking that only plain grilled chicken breasts, eggs whites, and white rice are only options. Whereas that could not be further from the truth. The world truly is your oyster.

Personally, I know I only live once so I enjoy my food and feel blessed to do so. Being a bodybuilder also mean you are a professional eater. Something which I relish.

Thank you for your service.

true enough bro.

But I learned long ago to eat for practicality and efficiency, not taste.

Dr.BroScience's picture

One can have practical, effcient, AND tasty food.

All you need is some techniques and spices.

You simply do not have shovel slop because you deem food as "just fuel".

You smell what I'm cooking?

Tasty and enjoyable food is one of the biggest pleasures in life! - I cannot understand how some people just see it as 'fuel' and don't seek any enjoyment or pleasure from having something nice to eat, especially after training. I find preparing food and dining 5 times more enjoyable when working out as opposed to not at all.

sorry it took so long to reply , fucking been ravaged by a sinus infection and sore throat.

I guess it was the military that did it , you are put into desperate situations where you have limited food options to pick from, you quickly learn to eat what ever is available, and you learn to eat it cold and with out emotion or enjoyment.

Its a hard habit to break, even when I am eating an enjoyable holiday meal, I do so quickly and with out thought. I am trying to slow down though and enjoy my meals, it was a psychological base instinct that took hold in the militarily , similar to eating in prison I would think .

Sounds similar to mine.

Deli meat comparable varies widely. Personally I would never trust a processed food product. Especially a processed poultry product. You are better off roasting whole turkey breasts at home and slicing whole breast slices to your sandwiches and anything else.

Greg's picture

You should be able to get whole, natural turkey breast at the deli. You often need to ask for it.

Yes good point most sandwich meats are loaded with sodium, some in the thirty percent range even.. They do have a couple that are pretty good though
