Fat/Muscle

ad

What are the best ways to burn fat but keep muscle. Its frustrating for me as everyone tells me I do not eat enough but when I do I gain weight. I workout everyday and eat healthy I just want more muscle. Tight, dry. Any advice???

What you are eating may be what causes you to gain and depends on portion size and how often. Like ur profile pic! I love Michelle Lewin!

Love her too. Its inspiration pic for me for sure! I am being told I do not eat enough most of the time. I have to cut out the watermelon it seems which I eat everyday with grapefruit. Ty Smile

How many calories are you doing a day? Maybe look at calculating your macros

Around 1500 sometimes more on days I do not watch which is every so often. Can you show me how to calculate macros?

It may not be that you are overeating which is causing you gain weight/fat, but it may be an issue of insulin sensitivity and nutrient timing. To avoid unnecessary fat gain, be careful WHEN you eat any medium or high glycemic carbs. Many fruits (especially juices) are higher up on the glycemic index and even though fruits have many health benefits you have to be careful of when you eat them. Eating healthy and eating for maximum fat loss can be two entirely different animals. The times when it is ok to consume higher glycemic carbs would be just before your workout to make sure your muscles are loaded up with the fuel they need to get through your workout (for maximum fat loss I would limit them here also) and then to get them in right after your workout to replenish glycogen stores. The rest of the day consume lower glycemic index carbs to help keep insulin levels stable.

I am slightly obsessed with apples and watermelon so fruit intake for me is at a high and I didn't know any of the information you just posted so thank you. Maybe I need to move to more greens? Any suggestions on what burns fat. I also love grapefruit which I will sometimes eat as a snack before bed.

Unfortunately watermelon is one of the highest GI fruits there is. Google glycemic index and you will know where foods rank on the GI scale. No foods that I know of really "burn" fat but one of the best natural fat burners is green tea. Green tea will also help with energy levels. You can get it in pill form also which is convenient.

Ah k. Well I guess my thought process was that watermelon was almost all water and that it is one of the #1 fruits to keep your body alkaline. Hence reason I also eat a ton outside of just enjoying it. Ty for the advice. I am definitely hitting up the green tea suggestion.

I haven't ever thought about high carb on workout days and low carb on non workout. I will definitely have to try that because I need the energy if I go hard. Thank you Smile
