I have thought about Accutane myself but the side effects scare me and not many people realize how harsh it is. They just think it's another pill like Clomid or Dianabol but it's not. When people get prescribed this stuff it's usually as a last resort and it's done under the constant supervision of a doctor with blood tests, physicals, lipid profiles, and even psychological evaluations.
Steroid induced acne is pretty easy to deal with if you get a solid skin care regime going.
I shower twice a day. Once in the morning, again at night. Both time I exfoliate my face using an apricot scrub. Then use a rotating brush on my face for 3 minutes. After that I apply a salycic acid wash. Then I rinse and dry off. I immediately apply a moisturizer, I recommended a facial moisturizer by Giovanni. It's organic, chemical free, and feels great.
Before I go to bed at night I treat trouble blemishes with tea tree oil or salycic acid cream.
The skin on my face is amazing. I have gotten comments from women about my skin. The only place where I have a problem is my back but that seems to be subsiding because of the final weapon in my skin care regime.
B5. Vitamin B5. You mega dose 4 - 5 grams a day for a week until your blemishes start to go away or lower in severity. Then you take 3 grams a day as maintenance. So far it is working amazing.
Get off the acutane. I took it in high school and had regular blood test once a month and had some liver irritation from it.
Thanks for all the info people...very helpful...the accutane is gettin canned as we speak lol...thanks again
AnonAccutane is really HARD on the liver DO NOT use with dbol. However if you dry your skin out your skin will secrete MORE oil to balance out the dryness. You will be in ACNE hell if you do that. Get yourself a toner that will balance the PH get a non oily moisturizer and some salycic acid ...should work if you don't have the heavy pitting.
I had no idea drying your skin would cause it to create more oil. Being that I was on Accutane it dried the everliving piss out of me and I have had no acne since 92 or 93. Good info...
AnonAccutane causes the skin to become dry because it is drying you from the inside out.. it shrinks the sebaceous glands which produce oil.. it also has a Black Box warning so if you are going to take it take VERY LOW doses either 5 to 10mg for a week and if you are able to tolerate it every other day for the next week and beyond that ..deal with what you have left. I can only tolerate a four to five days on 10mg beyond that it also dries out your joints which is also a bad thing. So staying hydrated and taking extra efa's is a must. Also using an astringent like Sea Breeze also dries your skin out and causes MORE acne.. make sure what ever you use does not have alcohol in it.
I know this is an old topic, but I did a search to see what kind of dosing protocol was tolerable with accutane and you miss have given me the best answer. Thank you!
Get off that shit bro....Take three showers a day with the cheapest soap that will dry your skin out( you can find it at the dollar store) Accutane will eat your liver up and spit it out. It also can cause depression and fuckin list gos on and on. I was on that shit in the early nineties. It worked but I looked like some sort of leper my lips and fingers were falling apart man. Also get in the spa at the gym. They chlorinate the shit out of the one at my gym.
I would also rather have acne than to be on a list for a new fuckin organ. But thats just mE. The FDA pulled that shit and believe me if they pull it and it cannot be got on prescription its some bad shit. They have Test at the drug store but no accutane. Think about it...
