My Story...To cycle or not to cycle
Hey Ya'll,
I have an interesting story for ya. I was going to wait to do this after I see the trt doc on Thursday, but my order was semi-shipped and I may have to do a partial order with another source depending on what info. I get out of this thread.
I had multiple back and neck surgeries in my late 20's. I trained heavy and constant in college in my early 20's, but gave it up after I graduated. I have rods and screws in my lower back... a plate and a couple of screws in my neck. I have an implanted spinal stimulator with wires going to my neck and lower back. I'm a mess huh ?
In my late 30's I hit the gym again hard and heavy... but very carefully. It was my OWN physical therapy and it worked ! I was feeling good and looking good. Unfortunately, after a couple of years I blew out my right shoulder with a hell of a case of tendinitis I tell ya. I gave it up for awhile and eventually just blew it off.
I'm 52 now. I have been laying around like a couch potato for years and I have tried on several occasions over the last few years to get back in the gym, but failed. My damn body and muscles have been too damn weak to grab a decent foothold. I haven't had the strength or stamina to git er done right.
So what do I do now ?
The last time I had my bw done was 2 yrs ago. Back then my test was low and under 300. Up until a month or so ago I didn't realize how much the low test was screwing up my life all of this time. Hell, I've been pretty much impotent for nearly six years now. I had bw done last week and I have not picked up the results yet.
I see the trt doc Thursday. I expect to definately be put on trt and I'm hoping for 200mg wk. During this time I also decided to make another go at the gym again since one very important factor of the test is strength gains and resistance training ups your body's ability to make its own test. I'm confident I will be able to get over the hump this time. I'm expecting reasonable strength gains after 5 wks of shots, but I don't want to wait that long to hit the gym. This is where things get "tricky".
I want to start hitting the gym next week after I see the doc and get on trt. It will be a few weeks before the test kicks in, so I want to bring in a pwo strength enhancer into the mix from wk one.
So what is it going to be ? That's where I need your help.
I ask myself 40mg of Anavar, 50mg of Abol or 10mg of Halo for pwo?
I'm 52
6'1"
250 or so lbs
bf I don't know yet. will ask doc. Picture a tall guy with normal arms and legs and I look 9 months pregnant.
I KNOW that diet and excercise will be the key to losing the 30 or so lbs I need to lose. It's all in my gut. That is a no-brainer ! I just need a little help early on with strength until I get over that hump when the test finally kicks in.
Speaking of test. The second half of this equasion is how much and when ? I won't know until the doc tells me when he will do further bw as to what I can do with the test. I'm certain I will be able to up the test a bit for a while until I have to get back down to trt levels for the new bw results. At the most it would be 500mg wk for a certain amount of time.
It's not a matter of IF I am going to take an oral for needed strength in the first few weeks... I expect I AM. The question is which one. I have given this a LOT of thought and i'm leaning towards the Anavar at this time.
Since I will be on trt I don't need to worry about pct for at least the moment. I expect my doc to put me on hcg and an ai.
My goals here are to lose around 30 lbs or so over TIME and gain enough strength to allow the muscle building properties of the test to get me feeling good again and LOOKING very good again. Please remember I am being put on trt ... aas is NOT an OPTION for me, it is a medical necessity.
Your thoughts in this matter are appreciated ?

It would not be smart for you to use AAS right now. Use the doctor appt to check your levels, and if he puts you on TRT then let that be enough. Steroids are not going to heal your injuries if that's what you're thinking. Nor will they give you a physique.
As for your training question I think you should be starting with light weight then eventually moving to moderate weight for reps and staying there. Due to your age and conditions if you were to start lifting heavy or using gear right now you're going to fuck yourself up.
u should concentrate solely on getting your t levels straight before anything else...this is going to take a bit to get dialed in ....once that is done get in the gym and do some work (slowly), in the mean time, do some research on nutrition and and get a plan laid out, ...plenty of threads in here and very knowledgeable people as well, pm me and I'll point you in the right direction, ...aas is absolutely not recommended at this time!.....your goal of 30 lbs will b made or lost in the kitchen, with or without Any gear!....
I think it's dangerous that you're using AAS as the main motivational factor to get back into the gym - I think this sets you up for failure. I think at this stage in your life your motivation should be working on improving mobility (work on moving better & more efficiently) & shedding pounds. If your focus is how much ya' bench cause ya' benched +300lbs 15 yrs ago; you're going to fail. The strength will come, the fat will shed, as long as you focus on doing something active every day. The doc can give you TRT to get your cock working again, and that dosage would be sufficient. Cardio will also assist, because a major reason for impotence is poor circulation. My pops is 70+, looks like he's 55 because he's been active his entire life... unfortunately, he worked out like a bodybuilder his whole life and suffers from shoulder & back surgeries - but he keeps doing whatever he can, he fights through the pain. I'm convinced that if he adjusted his training 20 yrs ago, he'd be in much better functional health. That's my 2 cents, best of luck.
This. Good advice.
AnonFirst, thanks for having the balls to just be real, and sharing your story.
Halo and adrol, as great for certain situations, but are not for your situation. My advice would be:
Buy 2 gallons of water a day. Finish them every day. Don't drink, don't smoke. Lose that 9 month old baby through your ass and down the toilet before drugs. I would hit the stair climber, for at least 30 min's a day, and steam room till you can't. Cardio is needed but running sounds like it would hurt your back.
Slowly lift weights, and don't be alpha male all the sudden, ease into this big weights, or your going to hurt yourself. Take care of your body first, then when your 9 month old is gone lol, and your actually in great shape, time is your friend, then introduce other drugs. Def not adrol or halo though.
Good luck brother
Give them a vote if you find it helpful.PermalinkHow long did it take you to get out of shape? I bet it was a lot longer than the 5 weeks you plan on kickstarting the TRT you haven't even been approved for yet. You need to be patient and see what happens with your doctor. Don't risk screwing this up for a slight strength increase that will immediately disappear once you stop the orals.
unreal89Sounds like you need cardio and a diet not.drugs just saying
