Ideal body fat % before starting a test cycle

ad

Hi,

What would consider to be optimal in terms of body fat before starting a test-only cycle, say 400mg/week? I've read that when your body fat is above 20% you automatize more so you'll end up fighting the E2 effects more. I know its tempting to just jump in a cycle with AI or an E blocker. Based on my own experiments with TRT/small cycles I start to need an AI (0.5mg arimidex twice a week) around 150mg/week as my E2 gets above 60 with that dose. Would keeping E2 below 100 be a good goal for a 400mg/week cycle?

Using gear with a body fat over 10% is wasting your time and money, though.

I think you (we, actually) shouldn’t use drugs to enhance our physical unless we had reached our natural limit and want to take it further and further.

With a body fat above 20% there are a lot of things to do: DIET, weight training, cardio, etc.

Lower the better. Around 10-15% would be ideal.

THank you! I just wanna say MUCHAS GRACIAS! I have used AAS since 21 yrs old on and off some years break, but am now forced to be on TRT for life at 37 almost 38. People just don't understand that veteran lifters or those who have cycled prior already have a decent base of muscle tissue on their body and will be at a high risk of losing that hard earned muscle in certain situations like mine. For example, I have been diagnosed with Arthritis in my knee and tore my meniscus last year which resulted in a major micro fracture surgery in which tiny holes are drilled into the base of the femur at the point of the cartilage erosion to stimulate a natural response that will initiate a scar tissue type fiber growth. The point is that I had crept into a possible 25-32% BF region without any cardio and excessive time immobile. Now already on a strict caloric restriction since I have been able to return to walking and stationary bike as well as pool, it is impossible to do intense cardio that gets my HR up to max fat burning zones and the steady state just doesn't shred me anymore. Through dedicated IF and good training I lost 20 lbs. but also saw more muscle leave my frame than really should have. Now that I am hovering 20% BF region it is my choice to add another compound that will assist me in avoiding more muscle wasting and up my dose from TRT 190 mg Test per week to a 400 mg per week Test with possible 200 mg Deca. It is unfair to make blanket statements that AAS is reserved exclusively for once you have reached 10%-12-15% people have no idea what that BF percentage even looks like.

typically if youre above 15% bodyfat your diet and training are not on point so using gear on that would be a waste because you haven't improved the diet and training to the best it would be and your gains wont be as much compared to the guy who knew those 2 things

Optimal or realistic?

Optimally <15%
Realistically, 15%-20%.
Marginally <25%
Oh Hell No! >25%

Unfortunately we never seem to be in the shape we should be when starting a cycle.

I agree!

If you are dedicated you can easily get to 15% without gear. You only need proper diet and some workout.

Thanks this is exactly the guidance I was looking for. I like the Optimally.

You'll get people stating you need to be half that bodyfat, some saying it's ok. So many mixed opinions on it all. If you look at the likes of Eddie Hall etc way over 20% and hitting cycles.

On the e2 I'm no expert, I just say once you've trained to the point you feel ready. Once you've read up alot and done alot of research, planned your cycle your pct your bloods.
