Anyone find that mma compliments there weight training routine?if so how?
I've been doing martial arts on and off for twenty years. 4 years of Kung fu, 4 years of Jiu Jitsu, and 4 years of mma. Im currently doing kick boxing, boxing, and submission wrestling 2-3 x a week. It's great for core strength and cardio. Wrestling and kick boxing are both good for cardio. I kick box better at 195. I wrestle well at 230. I am trying to split the difference and get to 210. I'm at 222 right know. I love the feeling of being able to wrestle and kick box for 3 or more 5 minute rounds without gassing out. I hate the feeling I get when I go back to mma after a lay off and get owned because I think my weight training and running/biking routine kept me in fighting shape. This has happened to me more then once. Talk about rude awakening.

Yea bro you cant have your cake and eat it too I say stay around a solid 205
I still practice Taekwondo and run various striking drills intermixed with my weight training year round. Trouble is I burn calories like a furnace, so I need to keep a close eye on my weight. E.g. : I came off my last cycle at 215 in May, and with beach volleyball and hitting the bags twice a week, I quickly melted off 15 lbs.
It's nice to be shredded, but It is counterproductive to my attempts to hold more mass. There must be a happy medium somewhere, but if I so much as look at a treadmill I lose 5 lbs.
