Having trouble hitting a rear lat spread

ad

My lats are one of my most impressive body parts. The only problem is that since putting on a lot of size in the last year I'm not quite limber enough to hit this pose effectively. I have no problems putting my hands on my waist for the front ls, but my lats and shoulders make it impossible to place my hands at the bottom of my rib cage and really flare those mother fuckers out. Are there any special stretches or exercises that will help, or am I sol. Any insight would be appreciated

From the floor up, leg placement showing calves hams glutes put your thumbs just outside your Xmas tree then force your elbows outward as far as possible and roll them forward. Lean back since the judges are lower than you. Turn your head to one side to accentuate the traps

Took a look at your pics, I think what you need most is practice and a little bit more rotator flexibility. Practice practice practice.

Thanks brother. That seems to be the consensus of my gym buddies as well. I thought a good cut would help, but I'm down 15 lbs and still having issues. I will do just that. +1

Tight pecs will hold you back. Stretch the chest and do shoulder rotations. Postural issues can hinder your lat spread too.
