+ 3 Stronglift 5x5

ad

Has any Bros here used the Stronglift 5x5 program? How was your experience with it? I have tried it in the past. While I did like it, I'm not sure if it was enough work. Not a lot of exercises, which is OK. I don't use as many exercises anyway anymore. I like the use of basic exercises, and heavy weight. I've had good results alternating that with a 3 day program. That gives me a break from the longer routines you can do with a 3 day.

I started this like a week ago. I'm pumped up and have never been more motivated!! Love it!!

I was left wanting more from my workout. Love the idea, it’s simple, and straightforward. Can’t go wrong with compounds. I made solid gains, but I really don’t like leaving the gym without feeing like I actually beat myself down. I’d rather go too hard and slow gain. I love the pain too much. Do the same with cardio. I used to race and I never got far because I never recovered.

It’s a good plan for a lot of people who enjoy the gym and want to do something afterword, I personally think.

I've looked at it, but I have not tried the exact program. I did not like the idea of so few exercises. I used a similar approach for a while, with more exercises and full body. But now I've changed over to a chest & tris/legs/back & bis/shoulders & traps 4-day split program. And a few more machines.

I’ve used it. I did this and got bench up to 415 (not my highest). Deadlift to 635.

I have a firm belief in the negatives for muscle. I maxed out almost everytime I lifted and it made me my strongest for what it’s worth.

That's a great increase in both bench and deadlifts, Bro! Negatives have made a big difference in my workouts also.

I haven't heard of the 6x6 scheme, Bro. I know if you move to bodybuilding, you've got the old Vince Gironda 8x8 and 10x10 routines. Not quite the same thing, I know.

Same for me buddy - as long as I can keep the maxes going up each session I find this gets me stronger & more powerful than any other method. Hitting 4/5 plus reps per set means a few of those reps can afford to be a bit slopping, 3 and below you cannot afford to be doing this and they all have to be tight and right. You get much better CNS progression and neural firing too which are crucial in being good at maxes. Sure the potential for injury is higher but as as long as you listen to your body and know it well you can tell how far to push it.

3 forums in two days - that's right, Bro. No I didn't think to look for a specific forum on this topic. I would not have thought Stronglift 5x5 was a strongman thing. I thought it was a for-whoever-wants-results thing.
