For form on deadlifting do you want your shoulders above your hips at the bottom? Or is it ok to go parrelel to the ground? Either my strength or form or flexibility is messing that part up. Maybe i need to go lighter?

I'm not quite sure what you mean here buddy - Do you mean is it okay if your legs are parallel to the ground when you are about to lift? The answer to that is no, you want them angled up into a hip hinge - I made the mistake for a long time of sinking too low to the bar and what happens is you end up losing too much energy and power in the bottom that you could be using to pull the bar up, everything will be out of synch with each other also when the bar leaves the ground as all the limbs lock together to pull. In terms of where your shoulders are at they either need to be directly in line with the barbell downwards or just infront of it. You have to remember all of us are built slightly differently here - Arm, Torso and Leg length all play major contributing factors as to how you will position yourself for the best pulling power. I like my feet just a little bit wider than my shoulders, and then my hands will grip the bar just next to my outer shins. You need to really read some proper form articles with pictures in them or watch videos on Youtube to master this - then you need to record yourself on your mobile phone to see how you look as you are pulling the bar. When learning new technique and also the proper way it is important you use a light load on the bar and spend one or 2 sessions just mastering the correct way to do things as your body and nervous system learns a new bar path and technique.

Oh yeh some guys can lift 400kg plus with their backs arched up like a pissed off cat!!! Some guys can just get away with it and others can't, some become crippled for life on 500lb's. Still think if you have a naturally bad back you should stay away from them despite what coaches say. One miss alignment and its all over for walking pain free for the rest of your life.
