Tapering off insulin?

i've been doing a little research on insulin. not jumping into anything, but just out of curiosity. do you taper off insulin? or stop cold turkey i guess you could say. every forum post of someone running it. never really explain if they are tapering off or just stop? could someone not be a smartellic and explain in details. please and thanks

No you do not taper ..stay the hell away from it unless your 275lbsthe and pro..or type 1of diabetic ...shit is major bro..one slip up and its gonna be ya ass....like ya ass six feet under!

By keeping your diet good and exercising, you shouldn't have to worry about diabetes even if your mom has it. Since you may have a genetic predisposition toward getting it, stay away from unnecessary insulin use as a precaution. Insulin does not need to be tapered off of, it can be stop anytime without adverse effects. I do not use insulin myself, for safety sake, as a nurse I have given it many times to non diabetics to reduce the glucose stimulating effects of corticosteroids. There is no need for tapering off of it.
Edit: To clarify on the part of it being stopped without adverse effects. If you are a insulin dependent diabetic, you cannot just carry on life without it. These are your type 1 diabetics.
