Trt help

ad

I'm a 47 male with low T (280). Doc says it's a little low but not low enough for insurance to pay. So I want to do my own trt. I have zero experience with steroids.
I'm looking for suggestions on what and how much to take. Not looking to get jacked, just want my libido back mostly.

Start at 100mg e3d, or e5d, assess your E2 and libido/feels, slowly raise up. If you can't avoid high E2, begin .25 adex a week and assess E2 until you find sweet spot.

Usually .25-1mg is enough for any high E2 aromatizers. Like myself I can't even look at test without growing boobs and E2 high.

If I was to follow the whole lower dose and frequency advice, I'd be on trt to get natural levels of E2 which is pointless.

The doctor I have been using writes a script for 2 vial supply that last a while. I pay for the office visit $150. Im on 100mg weekly at 50mg biweekly IM and I feel good. My friend who told about him is on 150mg weekly and has to see him every 6 months.

When I met with him he did discuss the natural approach of reducing stress, eating right, good sleep and exercise, could bring my levels up quite a bit. I expressed the stress isn't going down with my work, but I do eat and exercise regularly.. He also talked about HCG with it.

We did labs 2 months later and 7 days after a shot I was 680 Testosterone Total. My original was 210 Testosterone Total

It seems a lot of mens hormone clinics are popping up in my area and some want memberships... keep looking. Im on the West Coast..

Thought I would share my experience.. Good luck..

100mg of Test Cyp or Test Enan per week split in two dosages Mon/Thurs
after being on 6-8 weeks get bloodwork to see where your at. Adjust then
accordingly if needed.

Dude her in my state the doctor will not see you for TRt. They will tell you deal with it it’s natural aging. But if you ask for 100 OxyContin they will give it to you.

Do your research and find endos who specialises in make hrt/low testosterone/low libido and then contact them over email, explain your situation and ask them if they can help you get to the bottom of the issues and work with you on an appropriate treatment regime. Judge based on the responses you receive. Any endo who specialises in this area will tell you the blood test are just a guide and they will need to look at the whole picture - blood tests, full medical history, family history, and most importantly YOUR symptoms. If you’re not hearing this message keep looking. I’m UK based so insurance is different here but essentially diagnosis and then treatment is the purview of the specialist/consultant and not determined by blood work alone. I can’t see how it could be different anywhere else. For example you could be suffering from genetic iron overload which is impacting your pituitary and causing lowish testosterone (but not low enough to be below the range). You would need specific tests to determine this and then treatment is as simple as regular blood donations. I’m not saying this your issue but you see my point. Insurance would surely cover you at least up to the post of diagnosis and if treatment is warranted with trt then they would surely cover this too.

I was in a similar situation. My old doc was having none of it even though I was under 200. He moved so I had to get a new doc anyway and one of the 1st things he said was "dam, your testosterone is in the tank" . It took a little bit of time to get dosing right with him but he at least gave me options.
I think some docs for their own reasons are hesitant to prescribe testosterone. If you can't find a new doc ask for a referral to an endocrinologist. But don't start self administering before you go. Your test will measure to high and you will have a hard time explaining yourself. I know waiting sucks but in the end its probably for the best.

I've been taking 1500mg of citrulline daily & it's helped tremendously as I get closer to 50. Give it a whirl..it's a fairly cheap supplement!

This is also a valid route. Do it for 6 months, then you have the paper history for a GP/Endo/Urologist to take it over.

Yup. Go see a Doc man. Find an endocrinologist and what not. With stuff like that. You don’t wanna self medicate. Too many issues can arise with that especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. Plus with insurance and all that. You’ll want them to supply it especially if this will be a life long process.

Safest route. Like others said. Doc shop. Made calls. Be honest with them

What PEZ said is spot on.

We don't help with self prescribing here, sorry!

Isn't that what everyone who is taking steroids doing? Not trying to be a wise ass or anything but isn't everyone trying to gain something by taking these products. I'm trying to get back lost libido and overall better performance

plantguypete's picture

No, you have a VERY valid point!

I guess the members here on eroids try to separate performance enhancement from medical applications. It is weird and there aren't perfectly defined lines.

An example: if someone is on cycle with test and tren (or deca) and they get a floppy weiner or cant finish the job, an eroids member will likely suggest modifications in AI/dosage/dopamine - for the purpose to get the dick working. The cause of the floppy weiner was due to the deliberate use of enhancers, and likely not a prior medical ailment.

In your case, it sounds like you have naturally low T, which from the perspective of the members here is a medical concern. And quite frankly, you would benefit greatly from the advisement of a medical professional. Sure, there are a ton of dudes here self-prescribing TRT, and I am sure as safely as a medical professional would prescribe.

If you are truly wanting to self prescribe, I dont think you will get direct advice from many members here, but you should try searching on eroids for key phrases like "replacement dosage" or "replacement levels".

Again, I am sorry for the ambiguity about this.

It's all good, thank you and everybody for the advice. I am gonna start by finding a new doctor first.

levelup's picture

Lol yes for sure. I think if you aren’t looking for anything performance I would think another endo would prescribe trt given your levels and age. Some have better understanding than others. That would be the first thing I would try.

Muffins's picture

Ask for a copy of your bloodwork and go see another doctor, preferably a urologist. You don’t need to self prescribe.

Mr john's picture

I have seen a urologist and he only perscribed Viagra

Mr john's picture

My doc is retiring and I have to find a new one anyways. I was told insurance wouldn't pay with a 280. I live in USA, are you in a different country?

Bill G's picture

Bcbs pays under 300.

Muffins's picture

It’s exhausting, but keep doctor shopping. It’s better to lock this down now, then you administering yourself and not wanting to crash again for a legitimate script. Look at doctor profiles and videos they may have online. That can be a good indicator of willingness to prescribe.
