trt ? for a young friend
ad
A good friend of mine is in the military and is suffering from severe ptsd. during his treatment for this he was placed on a antianxiety type medication. The negative affect was that he became lethargic and lost all sex drive. the drs tested his blood and his test levels were 128 obviously well below the norm. The question is if he does begin the trt will this become the rest of his life? or can this be a temproary solution? I am asking some of you guys with some more expirience because he feels he is geting some conflicting reprts from the military docs. any help/advice will be appreciated. btw he is 27 yrs old

hey bro i have a friend who did 2 tours in iraq and one in afghan.. he was a sniper there and suffered from severe ptsd that being said milatary drs had him all whacked out on there drugs.. i work in this feild so i had some insight i found a place that specialized in ptsd and anxiety disorders ..needless to say he is no longer on meds from the military and seems to be ajusting pretty we;; now he still talks to some one about it but is doing 1000 times better than he was b4 he went.. pm me if you ned info youre buddy needs to address ptsd then he can hit the gym hard..
thanks for all the helpful suggestions i will be passing them oN shortly as he is in town on leave at the moment.
AnonI am going to suggest a few things. I have no love for military doctors...;-/ first off your friend needs to start TRT.. this may give him the mood boost he will need to take control of his life. Second, he needs to start doing some form of activity that will allow him to exert some control over his anxiety/depression. I suggest beginning with martial arts (NOT MMA) as the forms and katas will help immensely with the anxiety . In addition, yoga and transcendental meditations will also help with the anxiety and or depression. If he wants to be on anti anxiety medication for the rest of his life then do nothing .... I don't believe he is suffering from post ssri dysfucntion unless his anti anxiety med is an ssri.. I have been looking at cases where PTSD actually changes brain function on neuronal transmissions. It is possible to create new neural pathways doing the above exercises. It may be possible to ditch the medication too ;-)
Im in the same boat, ex military, ptsd/bipolar/scitzo (thanx army!!),
10 years of lithium and clozapine and prozac has fried my little figs
good n proper...
I was put on trt due to low testo in the end.
He may be suffering from "post ssri sexual dysfunction".
also, if he didnt want to go on trt,
he could try doing a 6 week and very intense pct (it may not work though).
Next step would be proviron, free up what little test he has and make him horny again. And add pramipexole if still lacking libido.
Next step would be trt :(
I run pramipexole year round now to help libido and drive ect.
Pinning every week for the rest of your life isnt much fun.
I forgot to add,
treating ptsd... ive been on every pysch and none help the ptsd side of things.
Actual psychotherapy did, just plain ole "getting it off ya chest".
I found talking to a complete stranger (and a woman) soo much easier than trying to explain it to friends/family ect.
Hope this helps bro, it was a very touchy few years for me...
Got locked up in the funny farm, wife divorced me, lost all my money, had to start over again. But it can be done
Anonpoof, I suggest some of the following in addition to traditional psychotherapy. Martial arts, the forms and katas assist in helping you alleviate anxiety. Hatha Yoga as well as meditation will also work if practiced regularly.
Oh be nice grrrl!! Yoga??? Ide look strangely out of place at one of those classes!!
Especially if i crammed into a pair of tights haha..
I used to do boxing... but i didnt have much self control haha
AnonYes, I said Yoga.. don't wear tights please.. those are so yesterday ;-) no not boxing you need to do something with the discipline of the forms or katas.. that is what makes it work .. and gives you the self control
No discipline in boxing huh? Tisk tisk! You know that's not true home grrrrl! But I understand your point. It's more about helping with his anxiety issues. Boxing may amplify it. Kata is a self defense practice. A branch of karate. Meditation tool. Yoga would also be great. But there is plenty of discipline involved in boxing for the long "trained" fighter.
Hmm interesting... il look around and see what clubs we have localy. probably a good way to meet people who are going thru the same thing.. thanx grrrrrl
and if i buy a nice set of fluro tights with matching sweat bands il pm you a pic asap haha
AnonI would demand a picture.. don't forget the leg warmers either or I ll send it back
done deal! me doing toe touchs and looking back at the camera too haha
Anonoh the visual ...;-s
Might be some help in this thread http://www.eroids.com/forum/general/off-topic/post-traumatic-stress-synd...
Hey GRRRRRRL,............another PTSD guy with low test levels.
I'll PM her.
TxBigBoyIf he is shut down then adding trt will only further his ability to recover. If he wants to try and restart is testicles then hcg might help or possibly even running a PCT. The doctors probably wouldn't do either because let's face it their doctors and they really don't care about us lol jk. But yea if he gets on trt he will probably be on it for life.
PTSD is a brain re-learning thing, if this Test Levels are low because of the PTSD it may be that his brain has re-learned to keep them there. If that is the case he may be screwed and headed for TRT for life.
