YouTube time...

ad

Every so often someone throws up a link to a YouTube video on here, and I catch a blast from the past of some kick ass music....just came across a bunch of Pantera links and it made me want to make a forum for all of us to throw down some of our favs...any genre, any time frame just dump them in here and see what we come up with..

For me, a local station has been playing this song alot lately and it reminds me of a time when better music was common, not like today when good rock is hard to find, at least on a consistent basis...here you go:

I bet. For today I just rolled with on of the iTunes playlists for Viking metal, it was pretty awesome. Then after we got out on the boat I looked up the Miami vice theme, not only was that cool but the whole Jan Hammer collection for Miami vice is pretty epic boat music lol

Just so there is no confusion, are you saying you are a Creed fan?

Pale's picture

LOL, all I saw was Creed, didn't listen.

Don't hate but this girl has been stuck in my head. I will also add I remember the first time I heard royals I was blown away and knew this chick was gonna blow up. Three days later she had the number one song in the country. I only hope she can hang on to the creativity she showed on this first album as a 17 year old girl. Amazing.

That girls got serious talent, an even better song I think is Tennis Court. Either way, both of them have been mixed in one of my personal YouTube channels for nearly two years, I appreciate the songs as much as my lil ones enjoy them, which is the sign of a great artist that can reach across both a gender and generation gap to keep a massive audience entertained.

She was certainly popular but not #1 within 4 days of her American debut.

that royals song she done is awesome!! i used to crank that shit when it came out lol

Pale's picture

I think all over the world people cranked it up,lol. She fucking nailed it on that song. I consider myself an audiophile and can be quite snobbish when it comes to music and I was straight up blown away by royals. I called a few of my musician and music industry friends when I heard it the first time and told them "You aren't going to believe this",lol.

TheFlash85's picture

i said the same, hope she continues, its hard to match when you bring songs like that, shes going to have to be very, very creative to beat it.

RIP Chris Squire, a more unique bassist there never was..

And for all of us who enjoy classic rock here is an incredible rendition of stairway to heaven, performed by Heart.

I think the coolest part is that the drummer is actually John Bonhams son (the original drummer for Led Zeppelin who died way too young)

I saw them live a couple summers back and Jason Bonham come out and did a full Zep set with them. Fantastic show, one of the best I have ever saw and Annie is without a doubt the most powerful female vocalist I have ever saw.

awagz's picture

I would have loved to see that. She sings w such power and soul, it's amazing. My first concert was Paige and Plant at MSG when I was like 8 years old. My father is the biggest Zeppelin fan I've ever seen so I grew up on their music and honestly there have been very few bands to ever come around that could even hang in the same conversation as them.

I am still a huge fan but after seeing how fucked up Jimmie page was between stealing others music and keeping a 13 year old girl captive I am not the rabid fan I once was. None of that takes away from the other three tho and combined they did what no one had done before even with their music.

These guys have been around for a while now, I have loved all their albums, and their music always get me pumped

I've been training to increase my max squat like crazy for awhile. 1 month into an intense EOD routine. Hard agro music played loudly through my headphones is like aural Halotestin for me. It can put me into a controlled state of rage to get under something way to heavy for a little old fuck like me to lift; then kill it.
Here's my latest motivator,
"One Of Us Is The Killer"
By Dillinger EscapePlan.
It's the kind that starts mellow then kicks in hard.

I know this song, it comes up on my slacker radio sometimes at the gym, def a cool song I dig the back and forth switching of styles.

I know you said ur not crazy about the heavy stuff but if I'm gonna go heavy, this song does the job for me

Me?
I'm
Wild about hard and heavy rock!
The more agro the better. Unless they're literally just screaming and growling the whole time. It has to have some musicality.
...maybe you're being sarcastic, or else I made typos!

awagz's picture

Oops no I misread where u said "get under something too heavy for me", thought u meant the music itself....so yea check that song out!

Yeah, this is an extremely emotive song. The type that I have to check out my inner state before listening to it and what I'm currently doing in case I get all emotional. Unfortunately you didn't say what it was so when I clicked on it and it began to play I was kind of ambushed. You bastard. Lol

awagz's picture

Haha sorry, it's a song that will def let I know if ur AI is correct!

I heard this song today on the radio and for some reason really heard the lyrics. The crazy part is a piece of history kind of popped up this week out of nowhere and it fit.

yea, the first and last verse really hit home. Back then, anyway.

I am old enough to look back and see things in a different light. I am also able to appreciate how the pain transformed me, how it led to my intended destination. I am even thankful.
