When ordering online do you. . .

This will be my first time ordering gear online and I have a questions for you veterans. Do you register with you preferred site with all of your real information or do you enter in all fake info (other than address).
Up until now I've got all my gear locally, so I just wanted to see if anyone had some tips before I screw something up.

tread-mThe busted thing is a non issue...customs has hundreds of thousands of names on file. If you get to walk into the Salmon spawn and pick any fish you want...will you pick a big one or a little one? You are not what they are trying to control....unless the postman has to bring your package in a semi trailer. Then you are what they are trying to control. My name has even been in a domestic current orders list at the time they went down and never so much as an email...didn't expect one and it didn't come. G2G

Well ive only placed 3 orders online but ive used my correct info. To my understanding if your gonna sign for it,open it,etc..your held liable and gonna get the book. Im no vet though just my opinion from what i hear. The chances of getting busted without large or multiple orders is alot less likely to happen and if you get a customs letter, just dont respond and your good to go. Also with some places that deal with credit card transactions they may require your real information to match the card to avoid any fraud issues. Maybe someone more experienced can correct me if im wrong and fill us both in
It does'nt really matter if your not dealing yourself,if you are then from what I'm lead to believe they can have you big time if they wanted.Thats why guys send it to different addresses than their own (dealers that is).First thing there is not a single non tracable way to pay anyone on the planet without leaving evidence or papertrail.Like Western union for example,if they know who you are (dealer's that is),they will easily request the information from WU no problem,they have the authority to do that.They know that you are signing for package's in what month,they get the tracking info that was attached to the mail,where it came from etc...but this is only for the dealer's,anyway i'm uk so a ok
Let's not confuse 2 things here.
1) you are under investigation.
2) your package got randomly stopped for inspection.
With scenario 1; you're screwed, they've been tracking you and slowly building a case and will eventually get you.
With scenario 2; they have nothing on you. no paper trail. no smoking gun. no supplier. nothing. the most they're going to do is send you a letter to give you a chance to claim it before they destroy it.

Signing for the package only acknowledges that you got the package. this is for the benefit of the sender and for no other reason.
You are NOT signing an acknowledgment that you ordered the package, nor are you expected to know what its content is if you pick up an unsolicited package that was sent to you.
It is human nature to want to know what you got in the mail. Not picking it up would be more suspicious. (unless it was from the IRS)
Sign for the package, look at it oddly, and mutter more to yourself than the postal clerk, "huh, I wonder what this is". then take it home and open it.
