+ 2 Weight belts?

ad

I write this post to get a general consensus about the use of weight belts. Now, I was never an avid user of weight belts but getting older, it tends to take a toll on your back.I decided to order a belt and this is what I got. ,,,,

It was either a Cardillo belt or an Inzer. I found my Cardillo relatively cheap on ebay for 60.00 and they retail for 160.00.

My question is do you use a weight belt?

If so what exercises do you use your belt with?

Do you believe in a weight belt?

Which belt have you found to be the best?

I had a sick weight belt but now I just use it for getting IFBB pro signatures Smile I've got two Olympians and one Arnold Classic winner now. I never go heavy enough to warrant a belt. IMO belts should be avoided because they make some things weaker with their use. Same with straps. I just don't use them.

Great advice! Thanks bro

What I rely on unfortunately is straps more then the belt but only when I dead lift.

Do you believe in a weight belt?

Nah, I ain't about that life. I have thought about it, but at the end of the day I just don't need one. I can pull 495 on the deadlift with no belt and no problems. I have worked my core/lower back up from nothing and feel I don't need any support from extra equipment. From my understanding, all a weight belt does is give your abdominal wall something to "push against", while this may be very beneficial to some, to me I have never had injuries or discomforts from my heavy lifts and do not find wearing one necessary.

Straps on the other hand, are a different story however.

Either way, your belt looks sweet.

Thanks he "ain't about that life", lmfao! Thanks for the compliment on my belt.

I personally like the model 2004 belt by schiek it has a 4 3/4" height requires no break in period and it conforms really well to my waist and its velcro so you can really dial it in as far as fitment goes depending on what im doing and I pretty much wear it every day I train they're about 60 bucks I picked mine off from rougue fitness they also have one with a 6"

Nice!!

I put the belt on for squats and deads under 5 reps. Recently ordered an Inzer forever lever belt, looking forward to trying that out.

Some troll mouth breather living in his moms basement with nothing better to do. It's sad really....... He's not hurting anything and the mods will catch up to them. Just a matter of time

Belt goes on the moment I walk in to my workout room and doesn't come off until I leave. Here's another thread that's been done on this.

WINNING's picture

Ok, so one person uses it during the whole workout. Do you feel it has strengthened your back the more you used it?

I think Viking said it best:

It goes on when i get outa the car... comes off when i leave the gym, its not the belt that protects the lower back its the vacuum of air forced against it internally that creates the protection... also helps to build a solid ab wall too as a side effect.

WINNING's picture

I def need to strengthen my core, I just got my belt so, I'm pretty excited to see some results.

having a few fused disc's in my back I find wearing a belt a must for me. it allows me to lift heavier and with correct form. legs and back training always. I've tried skipping it from time to time, just end up with pain in the lower back. dig this Level I've been a superman nutball since childhood, so after training a few years and concluding that I'm dedicated to this thing we love, I had a Cardillo custom made with the superman emblem stitched on the back. I know bad ass right lol. some punk with a death wish clipped my belt from my locker about 6 months back and I'm still hoping he's that flipping stupid to show up wearing my belt. if I was to get that lucky I've decided to whoop his ass with it lol. btw bro you'll love that belt, I see it's been broken in as well, NICE!

WINNING's picture

That's a great idea, the Superman logo, pretty bad ass. What a shame it was stolen, I'm sure it was expensive too.

IrishMack's picture

Weight belt for me is a must when lifting heavy dead lifts or heavy rows; I find it helps me use my muscle instead of my lower back. The cardillo belt is one of my favorites. little expensive but it has held up for the past 2 years without losing stitching. I bought one with a custom logo and had it custom fit as well.

WINNING's picture

Nice!!

IrishMack's picture

This is the one right here besides having it custom fit

Actually, no more pictures Blum 3

When it comes to wraps, belts and other apparrel such as bench shirts and squat suits, there is no better than INZER-----Longview Texas----Has always been considered light years ahead of everyone else.

WINNING's picture

Inzer had great reviews, Cardillo was the first to catch my eye though. Inzer makes some heavy duty, clasp type belts, very sturdy and pure quality.

7gothic's picture

I'd just go with that Cardillo-----it looks like it's already broken in----I HATE breaking in new belts...lol
Besides, from the look of it, it looks about as good as an INZER, although the clasp belts are nice.

7gothic's picture

Keep the use of your belt limited to anything past 80% of your 1rm in lifts like the squat and deadlift....as a general rule I have always tried to steer people away from overuse of wraps or belts with lower weights-----they can foster a dependance on them.
But if your lower back is touchy, by all means use the belt on heavier stuff----also make SURE you have a good program in place for flexibility and core (ab) strength.

WINNING's picture

Ive been hearing the same thing, that if you dont really need it, it could make your back worse. I tend to use my belt on heavy back(deadlifts),Legs(squats) Shoulders(cleans or presses). Def not curling a 25lb dumbell or anything.

Pale's picture

Thanks Goth. That is great advice.

Pale's picture

Nice Belt! +1. I only use a belt on squats and deadlifts, I have tried a couple of the cheaper ones but the one I have liked the most is just a plain leather one someone left in the gym. It fights nicely and seems to do the job. Maybe it is time I invest in one like yours tho.

WINNING's picture

Its a good belt, Ive done research on belts and this is one of the better ones. If that belt you have works well, keep it if not. Cardillo, makes custom belts, with your logo/name on them. Pretty cool shit in my eyes.
