Virtual Reality Headset

Hey guys I want to get my daughter a VR headset for Xmas. Looks like the Oculus 2 is good but I hate that you need a FB account. Any advice on what to purchase. I want a stand-alone system.

The FB account will no longer be required, it's optional.
If you like Oculus, stick with it. Just buy a Fb account for it or create a new one.
FB is insane with that Meta bullshit, I can't believe it's happening. What's gonna be next?
Yeah, I got my Son the Oculus for xmas as well. It's the best there is right now and "inexpensive" for exactly that reason. FB probably sells those things at cost because it's another way to collect and sell data. Apple is supposed to be developing one but who knows when and same thing will apply as it will be tied to the Apple ecosystem.
That's insane that you need FB to use a device, I didn't know that. Did you check Valve's Index VR set?
Honestly bud, there’s no such thing as a vr headset that is private. You’re life is seen exactly as that headset sees. It’s the same thing as the Xbox connect. It sees into your home.
I understand that. I’m just wondering which is best. Best graphics best game play. I just hate FB but if I must then it is what it is.
Quest has valve beat on just about everything. If you have a decent computer you can airlink it through virtual desktop to run higher end games wirelessly.
Honestly, the quest for all it's faults is a decent system, especially for the price. The FB requirement i believe is no longer required already as of last month when it switched to meta. Now you can login with an oculus account.
You won’t beat the oculus on value for price. Fb is the devil to me as well. Googles daydream is also supposed to be amazing as well.
You seen the Metaverse and the direction they are pushing FB. I stopped using FB ages ago, its a pit of advertising, ego, and negativity. I remember the days when kids would go climb a tree, go bike riding, you know be a kid. Social media is impacting many including kids on a serious level.
Thanks I never even knew google had one. Thanks buddy
