There is no such thing as overtraining when you're getting enough nutrients in

what do you think about this statement from Jay Cutler?

it's absolultely correct.sue me... if you eat the correct amount a food for the workout you are doing and sleeping enough then it's really hard to overtrain.
1jakd_hipyJim Wendler has an article I believe it's on T-nat, he makes a statement in it that blew my mind at the time but as I've tried it I'm growing faster than I was when I was training 3 hours a day. He says in the article "sometimes it's what you don't do in the gym that matters" he also goes onto say there are days where he just does his complex movement and calls it a day. For me it was crazy that less could be more but the shit works for me. Biggest thing to take from anything any of these guys whether it be a bodybuilder or powerlifter (cause their all trying to sell something) is try it for a few weeks if it sucks then throw it the fuck out and after a few years you'll have a good idea of what works for you. To think that your CNS plays no role in your performance and that nutrients can carry you through everything is crazy. If you don't believe me make friends with a Powerlifter who competes at a high level and ask them how much they think they could lift the day after a meet
They are full of shit. Eat enough nutrients and you can't over train. Nah you just get fat as pig instead. It's bullshit. If you take 6 grams of gear a week plus IV 20 IU's PWO of HGH then yeah sure maybe you can't over train. But forgive me as I am a simple bloke. I thought that overtraining was a state that you enter from over stimulation of the CNS. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I read a Phil Heath interview after he won Mr. olympia and he said the very samething, "that if you eat like a bodybuilder you can not overtrain". He even would train heavy everyday and would workout each muscle twice a week and would do 7 sets on the last workout. Now some would call that overtrainning. Ronnie coleman would do the same thing and he is one of the biggest guys I've ever seen. I beleive it all depends on your level and experenice.
Phil heath is a liar...and also Cutler's crony.
I don't listen to ANYTHING a pro bodybuilder says, including (believe it or not), the statements by almost every single one of them that they don't take steroids.
How many times do you have to be lied to in order to know you're being lied to?
"..I don't listen to ANYTHING a pro bodybuilder says.."
True, they are all a bunch of cut throats that would lie, cut, steal or do anything to get to the top. Like hiding behind avertising saying that all there muscle came from hydroxycut, then a teenage goes out and takes a whole bottle at one time destorying his liver not know he was lied too. I know what works for me and thats enough for me. I'm just saying every individual is different and responds to differernt types of diet/training.
LOL...Yep. I happen to be fond of N.O. Xplode, but not because Ronnie pushed it.
I think it's the young guys that mostly fall for that bullshit, and the ironic thing is that supplements are far less effective than steroids, and often FAR more dangerous.....yet we have a government that wants us to think the opposite is true.
CleyonThree years ago it was me falling for this crap, and I'm not young. The marketing they do with this stuff is amazing, and then they stuff in a bunch of psudo science. It took a lot of research to get where I'm at today. It's pretty pathetic that these blatent lies are allowed to be sold to the public.
Exactly but give it time and the government will take care of supplements too.
CleyonPlease no...
UFOWell here is the one and only time I have seen a video of cutler SEMI admitting to using steroids. "Nothing is cheating in this sport"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE6uegoRiFk
naguib123lol they also say that they dont use gear, and they are all natural. cutler would try to make himself sound like superman.
Yep....he doesn't even blow his own nose out of fear of overtraining.
LOLOLOL!!!!! The best way to learn from any IFBB Pro is to do exactly the opposite of what they say they do. Cutler is the biggest crock of shit of them all, and knows full fucking well that his success depends on a lot of rest, gear, food, and other exotic drugs developed NASA and DuPont.
Go on You Tube and try to videos of Cutler busting his ass in a workout......Most of what I see are 20+ rep sets with light to moderate weight----gotta hit that FS7 training protocol to work that synthol in.
I noticed that too watching his videos. All the sets he does are high rep and low weight. I wish it was that easy to look like him or even close.
yeah iv always trained 5 or 6 days week with 5 or six exercises per muscle group ' need to change it up gonna start with heavy compound low reps and more rest days ' the hardest part gonna be those rest days '
I added two inches to my arms after the age of 40 by training them once every 10 days (3 times per month) instead of twice per week.
Find out what works best for you, but for some people, less is more.
IMO everybody is different to a certain point. For some people, training 6 or 7 days a week might be fine, but I know that for me that is just too much. I believe that genetics play a big role is the veracity of that statement. Bottom line, there is no common rule that applies to everyone. just my 0.2$
I personally think you can and will overtrain at some point. Jay cuttler is a machine and his job is to train, eat, sleep and eat some more. He's also gifted with great genetics and is contracted with a multi billion dollor company that most likely supports him with the best of everything from AAS, HGH, slin, peptides, food and personal doctors that check bloods to keep him 100% anabolic 24/7. My point is, I KNOW there is a point when even Jay Cutler will over train not only physicly but mentaly and your mental status plays a huge part in growing too. For example, the avrage guy that wants to someday compete and is using AAS, HGH, slin, peptides and is eating a ton starts to train 7 days a week year round for 2 hours at a time doin 2 a days will most likely get to that point where they break down mentally and not be able to go 100% in the gym. I just like to take it one step at a time as long as im still moving ahead, seeing progress and meeting my short term goals and setting new ones.
i hear that over training takes over a month to take effect on your muscle groups anyway? could be all bs for i know...
The pros ive talked to say they are in the gym 8 hours a day sometimes doing two a days. Idk bout that but I guess if your job is to be buff, you need to spend more time at work to get the benefits. ;)
1jakd_hipyOvertraining is actually in reference to your central nervous system, an easy way to prove this is to hit a true 1-2 rep max on squat or dead lift (deadlift being especially taxing on the CNS) and then try to repeat it the next day. However, with proper planning you are correct there is no such thing as overtraining
Not always true. Sounds like his excuse for all his natural size ;). I was young and natty doing 5000 cals a day. Lifting six days a week plus semi pro soccor. Not growing. Upped cals to near 10,000 and finall blasted on extra solid weight. I slowed down on training and dropped to 5000 and added solid weight. So overtraining required twice the calories and less workouts than i was doing. And that was when i was lightweight class. So maybe he at over 250 eats double my diet?
10000 calories? bahahahahaha how is that even possible
Bite EdgeBy nutrients does he mean synthetic chemicals? Pretty sure if there was no such thing as overtraining some people would just live in the gym.
In fact I'd open up a gym/restaurant/hotel where you could just workout all day, eat while you train, and then sleep for 8 hours and do it all over again.
by nutrients he means a shitload of pharm hgh and top quality gear
Bite EdgeOh. Well then maybe. I honestly don't know.
Back in Arnold's day they used to workout all day and they're smaller than they are now.
That's just a speculation point though.
AnonIn Arnolds days they didnt use slin, peptides & hgh. (Not to mention they were still pioneering bodybuilding itself & doing trial/error routines & training)
Those 3 are why we see walking pieces of meat such as ronnie.
Atleast thats what I believe. Everything advances when science does, even bodybuilding.
personally i believe that to be true, but i also think hes the last person who would know that, i mean with the amount of gear hes probably taking i doubt his body can go into a catabolic state
