Shoulder surgery
ad
This Friday I will be going in to have a type III acromion removed from my shoulder. While the end result is going to be amazing (pain free and better range of motion), I know this is also going to keep me out of the gym for weeks possibly 2-3 months. Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on how to keep my weight up (besides eating). I was considering a small short ester cycle to keep the weight up, but not being able to train really fucks everything up. I should be able to do light weights and body weight after a few short weeks…just not really sure what to do..I would love to hear from other guys that have had shoulder surgery.

Just wanted to let everyone know that provided advice, I greatly appreciate it. The surgery went well yesterday and I have been laid up all day. I am actually already tapering down the pain meds and in general feel a lot better than I expected to.
AnonHGH 1000% bro.
Thanks you guys who took the time to give your input and share your experiences. One of the main things that has really gotten me down is that I have been working my ass off in the gym, kitchen, research and every aspect of building a better body and this little fucking bone is my shoulder is jeopardizing it!
tread-mIndabasements on this, train your other arm, legs and some cardio. If you do so when you can go with the other arm it will recover quickly in strength. There is much benefit to this! Have a BB buddy that competes and had to have bi surgery, continued everything else and once he could pound the other arm he recovered strength and size/proportion in a very short time.
Tread, what you and Indabasement said is also what I was told by an older gym buddy who has went through other shoulder surgery. My surgeon thinks the post-op pain will subside in only a few days...if that is the case, my ass will be back in the gym ASAP hitting cardio, legs and anything else I possibly can!
Good luck bro. I had my shoulder scoped like 6 years ago. Had cleanup on a partially torn labrum and a sub acromial decompression where they scrape the acromion to get rid of arthritis. The pain did get better after about 3 days post op and I was rehabbing in a week. You will be back before you know it.
Once you get past the post operative pain you could train your other arm and can always still do some moderate leg workouts to keep some weight up.
Ive had 2 surgerys on my shoulder.one orthoscopic. An then next open. Mad shit fucked up with it. Rotatorcuff. An the bone on my ball joint cracked completly off. Like a moon shape quarter of the balljoint. My first surgery I took off 4 months. I pretty much gave up with diet an all. Then it dislocated again a year after surgery an fucked ot up worse. Didn't lift for a year an half . I I have very limited movement in my right shoulder. It always hurts. Always. Its really weak even after lifting.for awhile again. I wish u luck man. I was about 240 8 months ago. Then droped to 190 doingninsane cardio an back to 201. Sorry tugs a lot I jus wanted to shad my shoulder experience. It sucks :/
I am fortunate that my surgery will be done arthroscopically and it is more preventative at this point and not attempting to repair damage. The acromion bone in the shoulder has literally grown a 1 inch hook and when I raise or push with my right arm, that hook is pinching off one of the tendons in the rotator cuff.
Loads of BCAA's, glutamine, hmb, all three times a day along with a clean diet. Hopefully you will get back in it quick, just dont rush into it. When I fucked up my shoulder it took three month before I could go heavy again and I lost at least 13 pounds. I had a small dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint because of a sprained tendon.
