Pull the reigns a little on the MOD squad...

ad

I would just like to comment that as of late (it seems) as if the MODS are charging through the review threads like Stormtroopers. I understand what their job consists of and I also understand it can be trying. But I just don't feel as if they are working justly or even handed (at times). YES we really don't want this to turn into the "Facebook of Juice"... YES emotions run a bit high when most (if not all) the members are all Geared up (including the MODS) And without a doubt some things DO need to be deleted and reprimands should be handed out BUT to distribute Justice without compassion is Tyranny.
EXAMPLE: I was in one of the threads and one of the noobies was in a panic because they weren't being communicated with in the time THEY deemed appropriate (surprise, surprise, right?) I (amongst others) had offered him some comfort to let him know (through experience) that everything's cool. Now not only were we lambasted then deleted but I (alone) was down voted and my singular comment (with it's -1) was left there by itself, out of context as surely as if I had stockaded in the middle of town for all to jeer and spit on me (okay, a bit over dramatic):/
Now I am not going to argue the legitimacy of my comment in that thread. Was it a review, NO. Did it deserve to be deleted? In the literal sense, probably yes. Did I deserve to be downvoted for it? (I believe) unequivically NO! I was not trash talking... I was not involved in casual conversation... My motives were that of the betterment of the community, which is the question I feel should be posed (or at least considered) when the MODS are making such decisions. In a perfect world everyone would post all of they're thoughts in the appropriate thread and steroids would be legal world wide... but until then firm but FAIR should be the rule.
In closing, I'd just like to add that I am not mad, angry or with malice. This post is based on principal and principal alone. My life and my world are big enough to where I don't need to gain validation based on a points system in a virtual world. I am here for two purposes: To find a legit and reliable source and to exchange info with the Bro's in the know.
Thx

Calm down Tread & I'll explain it so it is clear and concise. See this is a "Steroids" forum - it deals with topics of and about steroids and their uses. So all chatter in the "Steroids" section should in theory pertain to said topic - Steroids!
Now if you section off a area of the forums and call it.... uhhmm..... let's say "Off Topic". Well, then that section would be for things "Other" than steroids. So there you can freely discuss other concerns, ideas and the like. It would be open to free thought and............................ok, fuck! Now I'm confused ....

@Hollywood....Sorry Bro, but Hrdbdy was determined to bump this when she saw it--however, she had to recover from side-cramps from laughing so hard.
I look back at my response to socom4...it seems like a million years ago.
But that little bastard was a prick...lol

(((SIGH))) we were all so young back then...

...and i've noticed grrrl routing around the archives the last coulpe o' days

7gothic's picture

OH....You wanna start some shit??
Keep it up, and you heathens will see what oppression is REALLY all about---ALL of you.
You don't know the pressure we MODS have on us. That's why we drink and smoke weed.

Quote 7gothic "You don't the pressure we MODS have on us. That's why we drink and smoke weed."

.........and all this time I didn't realize I was already a MOD!! Well fuck me! I gotta start banning me some bitches ;)

Just kidding - I don't drink or smoke (anymore) but I am a certified idiot......wait, what?
jab.

They just don't understand that MODS are only one letter away from GODS...

Greg's picture

... and to think, they say power corrupts... how does the rest of it go?

HllwdBdBoy's picture

ummmh... i think the rest goes something like... "...and you will all bend to my will or suffer my wrath" I'm paraphrasing of course

7gothic's picture

Damn right.
But you can't expect the common, peasant eroider to understand how complex and sophisticated our jobs are. They are'nt on our level.
LET THEM EAT CAKE!!!!

HllwdBdBoy's picture

To drink the nectar of the MODS would cause our lessers to go blind (and NEVER make any gains to their calves again)

Greg's picture

Yeah, getting a little to Gestapo like in the off topic forum...

HllwdBdBoy's picture

Bro, I consider off topic (mancave) out of my jurisdiction. It's like the Caymans... u guys do whatever u want in there. Just keep it there... I do try and clean up the casual banter and back and forths out of the rest of the Forum... It's my job

Greg's picture

LOL. Just giving you all a hard time.

We should start calling you guys the MOD Squad.

HllwdBdBoy's picture

HA! Never heard that one... NOT!

HllwdBdBoy's picture

I meant those OTHER MODS...

Whats with losing your rep or getting downvoted because people dont agree with your comment? lol it appears as if everyone is taking out their "no dislike button on facebook" interest on this site. I literally went from 7 to 3 within an hour. I dont mind because to me that little number in the box doesn't mean much(unless your a rep for a source) but its a little ridiculous when people start including their egos based on what their number is smh

this is indeed lol

BAM!

I don't have a problem with MODS deleting posts and for laying down the law....I DO, however, have a problem with the WAY in which a certain new, video-game-addicted MOD delivers his message. A cross between Barney Fife and Percy Whitmore (The Green Mile).
I mean, I'm sure it's cool to have a little power and be able to tell people what to do, but is it really necessary to be such a prick? That's exactly why I spent about an hour on Musclediscussion before I realized it was ran by impartial pussies who were more concerned about covering for their scam sponsors than they were for telling the truth. Eroids has been great, and even the particular MOD I'm talking about seems to be quieter than a mouse pissing on cotton now that his sugar daddy from GF is having a meltdown.
The bottom line:: A little diplomacy and kindness can do wonders for the entire site, including the MODS.

Being called a dick by you is like being called yellow by a banana.

Alright socom... I've got two businesses to run. If I stay here and argue with you, it cuts into my profit margin. So as much as I like debating with you, I like money even better.
Peace out.

I've experienced the same thing. With a singular comment left out of context and accompanied by an unprofessional public lashing from a Mod. Perhaps the combination of the Mod rebuke and disjointed post encourages a minus 1 rating. I don’t know.

I think warnings from Mods ought to be pm’ed to individuals or posted as a general warning to all.

Looking through the threads I can see that the post hllwdbdboy is referring to, and mine for that matter have been deleted. As well as a few other dozen posts that were made today. I like that approach –The silent delete. One minute it’s there, then it’s gone. Could be a good tool to get people to think before posting.

Moderators are doing precisely what I ask of them.

You need to see it from mods or my point of view. What you perceive as your single innocent reply to a newbs irrelevant non-review question, is in reality 10 or more of those post by 10 different users per day on a single review page. If we didn't moderate those, reviews section would be unusable.

As a rule we'll delete every non-review post that pops up.
Exceptions being:
- relevant replies to reviews.
- Informational (beneficial to users) post written by sources.

Everyone needs to ask themselves before posting in reviews "Is my post a review".
If your answer is no, you should post it in forums.

BFG's picture

Actually for a test, we could have a week of no moderation in reviews.
Except for spam and other bullshit. What do you think?

HllwdBdBoy's picture

WHOA! That's just asking for anarchy... and my point wasn't about the lack of necessity (because it is necessary as I stated) but more of a (perceived) abuse of power. And if your going to enforce the rules you should be held to a higher standard to follow them... i'm just saying...
