Pain-killers kill
ad
There has been a large increase in drug-related deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is about 30 percent increase in 2020 in overdose deaths, involving fentanyl use or mixing it with a drug such as cocaine or methamphetamines. Don't you feel it can be related to quaranteen, separation and loneliness?

Here is an idea….DONT take drugs !!…yah I sound like Nancy Reagan but the fact remains…if it’s not prescribed from a brick n mortar physician, then don’t do it! It’s no different now then it’s always been, getting street drugs or from a friend of a friend situation ALWAYS has risks involved….if you overdose from the compound AT the the does you’re prescribed, then let’s take that convo deeper….but , I have been scribed MANY types of narcotics for a very long time due to multiple back surgeries..and in no way have I even come close to overdose…yes I understand that at some point some certain individual will have issues with a scribed compound, and possibly will perish and that’s a shame….but for the majority of people who benefit from said compounds and administer it in a safe regulated manner I see no reason to point the finger….Christ , we all here condone the use of test dbol drol nandrolones etc….those can also cause death if not taken “ as prescribed “, or in moderation…so to finger out ( no homo), fentanyl meth or coke as “ overdose “ drugs is bullshit…yes it may be a quicker type but when it comes down to it it’s the USER that determines how much and how often they will use it…so to reply to your ?…..who gives a shit if being off work or working from home or whatever has increased the overdosed rate of people…it’s the INDIVIDUAL that ultimately does the deed so either they were goin to eventually od, or god forbid, something worse like take people with them….
Sorry to rant but people need to stop blaming drugs and start holding the individual whom over indulged ( if you will) , in the intake of said compound….for fucks sake, look at Rusty…he chose to drink coffee n smoke at age 6 and never grew a fucking inch since!…proof positive that it’s ON the individual and not the situation or circumstances at hand as to what we do…
We have legalized recreational drugs, including alcohol. Risk of poisoning is reduced if you have a controlled and regulated source for your drug of choice. Young adults who "responsibly" partake in recreational drugs on occasion are now unwittingly being poisoned with fentanyl. That occasional line of coke taken just before heading out to the dance clubs after a hard week at school has just turned into a death sentence.
We need to stop thinking that these deaths are just happening to the tweakers and the homeless dregs of society. Many are bright, intelligent, middleclass kids and students with promising futures who imbibe occasionally on recreational drugs; as man have done since the beginning of time.
It's too naive, and a bit arrogant to simply say Don't do drugs. To use your own argument if the dosage and purity is known and consistent, then the likelihood of OD or poisoning is diminished whether it's doctor prescribed or self-administered.
Anon100% this.
It's not the 80s or 90s anymore. Today a single line of coke can kill. The dope gets stepped on once, twice, who knows how many times before some college kid gets a 8 ball of death for the weekend. Each time it's stepped on it could be getting cut with fentanyl. But it only takes getting stepped on once to turn deadly when it comes to fentanyl. It's a game of Russian Roulette to do coke nowadays.
Greg that’s my point….doing any drug that’s not scribed by a “ brick n mortar “ physician is a risk…wether it’s a trusted source or not, doin coke or meth or heroin etc, these days isn’t like is was back in the day. …yah I’m going back to when the drugs were clean and the sex was dirty….seems to me that has all reversed…..hell, you’re old enough to remember those days!. Lol…all I’m trying to say is that you can’t Od on fentanyl if you’re not taking illegal drugs…until the day fentanyl pops up in Tylenol or Advil or a bottle of testosterone, then I’ll stand by the just don’t take drugs know to be associated with fentanyl contamination…
You are right. In our days we are aware enough to take responsibility for our own health and, more so, life. Even the medication prescribed by docs must be checked for allergy or compatibility, as no one cares any more.
Rustyhookerloud applause . Its everyone elses fault bs is old and moldy
Over generalising is the lowest form of discussion and of 0 substance bro
RustyhookerI grew up in the era where raiding gmas cabinet was a reality. Started out where everyone tossed whatever was found into the pile and split it up then pass the booze. They found out later it was cheaper and easier to just buy heroine. No media outcry. Noone gave a crap til it was the middle class and rich kids. Thats a fact. And being fully immersed in the hardcore music etc scene....if i had to write a list of suicides and overdoses....it would fill a notebook. But noone noticed. Amazing how life changes with daddys pocketbook. Now its the rich leading the charge and lets blame big pharma. Laughable at best.
The important thing is it’s now in the public eye and being reported on.
It’s not hard to follow the clues which lead you back to the big pharmas being hugely responsible for a raise in opiate based drugs being prescribed to everyone and their dog which has aided in this epidemic.
RustyhookerYessir. To me its one of those difficult topics seeing how it wrecked many. It will be interesting to see where it goes.
I whole heartedly agree with you mate but let me play devil’s advocate here as there is something called opportunity and education, or lacking of.
Sure we can blame the individual (as I do a lot of the time) but when you come from absolutely nothing it’s extremely easy to fall into drug abuse, you have no guidance, no supportive structure, no clue how to spell your name let alone fill out an official document. We can all say get a job, further your education and work hard (of course you came from nothing and did it) but the reality is most of these people don’t realise there are these kinds of opportunities out there for the likes of them, they’re used to having nothing. It’s a sad state when undereducated people are prescribed shit like that. It would seem the whole of the USA’s health care system is rotten to the core. I recently read that they added or removed an ingredient in one of the opiates based drugs so that you couldn’t inject it and sales plummeted by 80% (or some story along those lines). The ingredient was removed/replaced and sales shot back up. My point being the pharmaceutical industry is fucking massive and control so much of your country’s economy they do as they please, even if that’s ensuring doctors prescribe these drugs to anyone. You don’t find anything like this in the U.K, at least not to that extent.
What I’m saying is the addicts aren’t all to blame, the system is against them and so is where they started out.. it’s hard to fully comprehend how desperate their situation is unless you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. If you look at the bigger picture what both the USA and uk need is more capital being pumped into giving our children a better education and setting up a system that gives all adequate support to become functional adults in our society.
When it comes to it bro…it’s about the mental capacity of the individual…I mean if they r old enough to make the decision to take the compound then they r old enough to reap the benefits/ consequences of their decision and to do it responsibly…..so to blame society for individuals not knowing what they are putting in their bodies with all the available information online, via smart phone info, is just something I can’t hold as a viable excuse for something as crucial as this….I mean if your going to decide to drink either jack daniels or Jim beam…that’s a decision u can fix in the morn…but as far as meth , Fentanyl or anything else, it’s up to the individual on what and how much you decide to take….
And what gives someone the tools to improve their mental capacity and enable them to be a critical thinker. Education and support which is of a great lacking and something if you have had an abundance of you will take for granted. We will get absolutely no where by turning this into a black and white “it’s the addicts fault” argument, you need to look deeper into the contributing factors. As I said I whole heartedly agree with your points but there is also much more to this, and what a people fail to realise is what happens to one happens to us all, we are in this together. Our children will be effected by our lack of positive action.
If you over simplify the problem it takes away any room to improve it. Without putting on my tin foil hat this is what the many multi billion dollar companies want us to do, stand around and point at each other rather than blaming other contributing factors which can be improved, some of which at the expense of the larger corporations profits margins.
Brutha Grow, I appreciate and respect your view on this…when it comes down to it, it’s not black n white,..it’s grey,…PARENTING and guiding / educating children beyond what society and media throws at them is EVERY adults job….if someone is old enough to go thru a check point just to get to English class everyday then they r old enough to have a talk to about the dangers of fentanyl being mixed with “ street drugs”…so hypothetically, if every time a “ school age” person went to class they were allowed the opportunity to hear about the dangers of doing drugs or per this convo, fentanyl laced drugs, do you believe it would have a positive effect?….I mean it would do the same thing as spending millions on programs that apparently aren’t working as people still make the choice to take the chance to injest drugs not knowing where or even what they are….it’s sad yes, but in the end it’s the individual that makes that decision….not the lack of information or programs available….if fentanyl was to pop up in ug testosterone’s or deca or any other ped, would you stop?…I sure as fuck wouldn’t buy anything but what came from my brick n mortar physician scribe facility….to each their own , but it absolutely up to individual to take a risk, or like said before, reap the benefits/ consequences of their decisions
RustyhookerMy days in grade school folks passed out stamps. And it was good to see my school went fully pro-active as times changed. It would pass out the old ditto copies of what the hood was doing at that time. If mickey mouse was 2 hits or watch out for candy hearts...they posted it. My older homeys kept us youngsters up on what and who to avoid.
That is exactly why we must develop our children, talk to them much, develop critical thinking in them. An educated person is hard to manipulate. We can't change the system in one day, but we should invest into future.
Well said bro
EGG-BLOODY-ZACTLY DROCKYY!!!
Next people will be moaning about people dying because they chose to drink a pint of Anti-freeze at the Petrol Station because they were thirsty and there was no orange juice left. Only take medications you have been prescribed by a doctor at the dose suggested - whats so hard about doing that?
I don't think that the statistics involves too many people who got a small overdose to kill the real pain, but the ones who know what they are doing
It is the fentanyl that kills. Every OD death in my neighborhood has had fentanyl in the product.. Some dealers are now being charged with murder due to it being laced with fentanyl.
TricepatopsNo not because of quarantine. It has to do with the market is now flooded with a drug about 50 times stronger then Heroin. It is not just coming from China anymore it is being made all over the world and it is so much cheaper then Heroin. But when you mix downers and uppers it can cause major cardiovascular problems which can relate in stroke, death and other health problems. People worry about getting in trouble so they don't call 911.
KiilllakamAgree with Greg but yes quarantine hit many that were already unstable hard which I’d say played a role in the spike
TricepatopsNo you think people doing these drugs give a shit about quarantining. They don't do that they are trying to find their next fix and how to get money to do it.
So, your idea is that quarantine has not brought around more addicts, but influenced those who had already been addicted?
TricepatopsNo I just think addicts don't care about quarantining. There is no more quarantining now but I believe it brought more people depression but it also brought out alot alof good aspects for people as far as getting into shape. But there are so many factors that go into this. But the main factor if we are talking about opioids is there is just more fentanyl around that people call and think is heroin. Also carefentanil is around and that is 100 times more potent then fentanyl. A grain size of a piece of salt will kill a human. Just touching it without gloves can kill you. But maybe less people out the less the people say people overdosed in a car or wherever. Also there are more addicts then ever before and better tracking and better tests to determine exact cause. But not buying that little bit of time being in quarantine would kill that many more people. Hell here in the United States no one had to really quarantine. We could still go out and do certain things. But to answer your question no. Though I do think drug abuse has gone up every year it seems.
No. Pain killers do not kill.
It's because we are allowing China to get away with shipping fentanyl into the US and the drug dealers cutting other recreational drugs with it.
It's not overdosing, it's poisoning. Most who are dying aren't aware they digested fentanyl. They think they are taking coke, meth, heroin, etc.
bighulk3012Exactly right! One of my friends died just a few weeks ago. He got some weed that was laced with fentanyl. I’ve heard of it been done with coke, meth, heroin like you mentioned, but I was shocked about the weed. It’s truly sad.
My condolences. One thing is to read about it in the news, and absolutely different one is to lose your friend.
bighulk3012Thanks for your kind words!
RustyhookerOh wow! Thats effed up. Sorry for your loss
