New Gym Members Always Staring

ad

I work out at a small gym we have about 300 members but only about 80 people a day come in, so everyone knows everyone. Recently a gym a few miles away closed and we have been getting all there members so walking into the gym is very different than it Used to be being there are a bunch of people I dont know. The thing about almost every new person that comes in, is they stares at you like you have boogers or something on your face. It makes for uncomforatable lifting session. Every time I get done with a set and look up one of them are staring at me directly or through a mirror I almost start to feel like they are challenging me, It really annoys the fuck out of me. Does anyone else experience this with newbies at your gym or just weirdo's that wont stop staring.

I get idiots that stare at me at the grocery store...but then I live in Indiana..

Easiest way to get them to stop is by getting into what your doing.. and forget that there
staring. At least you will get your work out and in and if they stare that long.. then
there not there to work out...(imo)..

I workout with the wifey and people always stare at us! Or maybe her.. Lol it gets real annoying at times and at one point I did follow a guy into the locker room and asked him if he had a problem! Which in return he did not. It's kind of funny cuz now I talk to the guy on a daily basis and actually he's a nice guy! I feel it it gets to outta hand I will jus confront the person and ask them. I may get knocked out someday but, dam how are u workin out if u r constantly workin your eyes out watching others! Lol or we always get people at the grocery store, the mall, or any public places that stare and whisper shit. I try to laugh it off. But when someone crosses the line and says "Man that bitch is swole" it's a problem and ya words get exchanged and blows could be thrown! For the most part I try to ignore and go about my business!

I have a theory that the only way u know someone is looking at u, is if u are looking at them? Doubt this helps, but u dont see anyone looking at u this way.

it will happen. i stare at people who are putting up heavy weight. they stare at me when i do big lifts too. last week i squated 405x19 and someone walked up to me and just shook my hand!! i felt kinda proud. lol

worked in the gym for 5 years. A lot of people don't actually know how to train properly and always looking at other more experience people for tips or ideas. Plus if you are lifting fuck loads of weights it excites the newbies in the gym.
its all normal in every gym i guess

I get that problem all the time, my opinion is that their just admiring me benching my 10lb dumbells

Obviously your doing something right and looked jacked if they are glued on you. Be proud those guys/girls now have a little motivation. Would you be looking if Jay Cutler or Phil Heath walked in and started smashing weight? Hell Ya!!!

We do get that in our gym and probably all gyms and it's not just new people. I put it down to them watching people's routine and picking up ideas, and I think guys like to see what sort of weight other guys are lifting. Just my opinion ;)

I completely agree with you. Then occasionally one will grow the balls to come and talk to me and asks me about what I was doing and what it works. I'm happy to help them, they are trying to learn. Occasionally there might be the dumbass that thinks he huge, when he really isn't that is almost acting like he wants to challenge me. It's funny because those people are the ones throwing up way to much weight in horrible form.

So I spoke too soon. Just a little while ago some fatass with zero muscle deffinition was mean muggin me. He looked like he had a bid dbol or deca bloat along with a huge guy. I took it as he was jelious because he is fat, maybe strong, but look like shit, while I'm a cut 195, 200. (scale is busted at the gym so I don't know my weight gains)

I wouldn't take any offence bro, take it as a compliment. There getting accustomed to a new environment, so they are extra aware of their surroundings and competition.

To take it out of perspective, whenever you see a hot girl, guys look - But secretly these super hot girls are really narcissistic and generally have low confidence, because most places they go, people stop and stare and provide no reason, so in their head they begin to question why people are looking.
As a final message, i would take note of the point i mentioned above, and take it as a compliment
