New Gym

ad

So I started going to this new gym that recently opened up. I have a couple of memberships. I like to change up equipment and the scene. Everyone walks around like they're a hard ass and has invisibile lat syndrome... I think they all came from Planet Fitness to a real gym because it's the only one in the certain location. On the other hand if you are 5'6 155 pounds you don't need to turn your skinny ass side ways to walk by someone with your hands 3 feet out from your waist. I always get told I'm a humble guy in person calm and collective but this guy has 5 plates on each side of the squat rack did not put no clips on. We all know that when you have that much weight on the bar it flexes. Well needless to say he picked the bar up and all the weight off one side went one way and the bar slung back the other way. I thought I about shit my pants when the bar landed right in front of me but I squeezed my ass cheeks and held it from losing my shit!... Needless to say don't ego lift if you don't know how too and don't pretend to be 6ft 250lbs...

Yep walked in there again yesterday... It's the gym where everyone think there big as Ronnie Coleman and can fight like Chuck Liddell! Have the attitude anyways...

I enjoy watching those guys, they typically bully the smaller guys in there that are just trying to get a workout in. Theres 2 guys like that in my gym anyways, I watched them take a guys bench while he was walking over to get weights one time and the guy just shrugged and walked away, so I went over and told them I was on the bench, threw my towel down on it and then walked over and grabbed the guy and told him the bench was open. Those guys still give me the evil eye, but with a closed mouth.

Exactly but these guys are 155lbs! Lol

I never use clips! 5 plates or not,
well actually the only time i use them is when there are only those flipping ridiculous bumper plates at hand
but 5 plates lifted properly shouldnt be flexing the bar enough to see them slip off the side!
Bet that fool hadnt balanced the bar properly AKA hadnt a clue what he was doing

I hate feckers that walk to the bench and take plates from the side holders on the bench, while you are at the bottom of a flat heavy bench press
That deserves instant death

How about the self-entitled pricks who just can rack a single weight. My biggest pet peeve at the gym.

FKN cell phones and MOOTS taking selfies is mine.... I get in and get out, plain and simple like the good ole days..

vhman's picture

I get some of the cell phone crap at my gym, but not a ton. Guys sitting on a machine and texting, Facebooking, etc., for ten minutes or more and then just leave without doing another set. Blood pressure rises dramatically. :-)

I hear ya vhman, I hear ya..... Totally agree... Uuuhhhhhhgggggg

My most hated people at the gym will always be the creepy perverts who make women uncomfortable.

giardap's picture

You would despise me
I am a grunter and a perv, and think women dont belong in the heavy section

Top of my target list though, are the sexy personal trainers (fugly ones aren't worth the time), freshly graduated who havent a fcuking clue about how to properly execute an exercise or optimally train a muscle. I watch them and shake my head, and if one of the lads join me in disgust, I will point at them and discuss how fcuking sexy they are and how shit they are at the job, within earshot of their client

Hey, I grunt too, albeit quietly.

I'm totally a pervert. I'm just not obvious about it lol

giardap's picture

That should see you fall into the category of successful pervert then lol
;-)

I was talking to this guy one time who was probably 5'3" but built like a brick shit house. He mentioned he just got done working out at the planet fitness around the corner. Baffled, I said, " they let you work out there?" His response was, "why because I'm wearing a tank top?" Apparently he did get it......

I hate the grunters no matter what the weight. If I'm lifting heavy the loudest sound out of me you will hear is like a quiet snake sound like the sound you make to scare your cat off the table

helloBrooklyn's picture

Grunters hate the "TSS"ers. It goes both ways.

giardap's picture

yep!

Well said and I totally agree with this post. I cant tell you enough myself how I see this on a day to day basis.. Good gym etiquette disappeared a long time ago.. Nice Bulkdaddy..

it brightens up my day when I see some dude load tons of weight up and then only has a range of motion of two inches.

Haha, I go to the gym first thing in this morning and there are only a few people in there so u cant help but see what everyone is doing. This morning, I watched this very thin teen load up the weight belt with 2 45's and a quarter. Naturally I'm like holy shit, this kids going to rip his arms straight off of his body. He jumps on the dip bars and does maybe a 1/4 of a rep for what I counted as 5 times and then hops off and flexes his tris lol.
