Anyone know what’s up with Makwa? About three weeks ago he was having breathing trouble and now he hasn’t been online in like 7or 8 days? I don’t mean to pry or be nosey, mods can delete if this is like violating privacy or whatever if he wants to stay private I apologize but just concerned about him and usually he’s on here often. Hope all is well with him and I’ll say a prayer just in case.

Ya I felt it might be a bit dramatic also, that’s why I said that at the bottom lol. But you only feel stupid about it when it turns out to be nothing. If it’s turns out to be justified then it’s not being dramatic, so this is one instance where I’d be happy to look stupid and over dramatic

That’s the only bad thing about a site like this. When a regular goes dark, you know it can’t be good, and you may never know what really happened. God bless the guy, and hope everything turns out ok, although my better judgment is telling me it’s not good. Very sad stuff.
@Makwa we miss you bro get well soon. One of the best informational members. A lot of my training was influenced by Makwa. Thanks for this post I was wondering where he was.
My last long PM from him on his medical status/condition/symptoms was Feb. 8.
That was a while, but I try not to bug him to much too.

Hunting season is October to January depending what you hunting. At least in my state

Yeah, I know he had a pretty brutal run with Covid last year, so hopefully he’s ok.
Ya shit can be ugly, but I didn’t know he went on trips and was offline like this before so that’s probably what it is.
I've been worried as well pal - I PM'd him and tagged a comment to see if he would come on about 3 days ago now and haven't heard back. He is known to go off on shooting trips for a week or 2 and never tends to come on during that period, but yes its concerning given he's not well.
Oh I didn’t know that about the trips, I knew he was an outdoors kinda guy tho. That’s good, that means there’s a reason why he might be offline, so that’s cool, hopefully that’s what’s going on. When your breathing but not getting any oxygen is super scary so I hope he got it figured out. I’d been thru something similar and it was horrible.
I know the feeling, had double pneumonia a couple years ago which my local ER tried lying to me and saying I had Covid until I refused to leave without seeing the test results which exposed their lie. That’s what happens when our govt incentivizes positive tests for the hospitals conducting the examinations but I digress. The pneumonia was the worst thing I’ve ever been through in my life, couldn’t even walk 5 steps without gasping for what felt like my final breath, 5 days of complete hell.
Ya I couldn’t walk at all and I had three tubes stabbed through my back and side into my lungs to drain them and I’d go into a coughing fit and start turning purple and suffocating and then wake up a week later tied to the bed with all these tubes down my throat and on a ventilator, that happend three or 4 times and it was absolutely awful
OMFG I didn't realise things were that bad for you, I cannot imagine a worse situation.
Ya it got really bad, they had called my mom on two separate occasions and told her I wasn’t going to make it through the night. I also actually learned what ptsd is, for a few months after it happened, If i coughed, I’d get super nervous and scared that i wouldn’t be able to stop. The whole experience just made me aware that I’m not invincible even tho I was only in my 20’s and try and be more healthy, even tho it wasn’t from anything I did, it was from an infection, but still I just wants to start taking better care of my self
Damn bro. Just read all that. You’ve really been through ICU hell. Wish I had been there for you, better care and maybe little better fucking sedation while on vent. Damn.
Thanks brother but I was lucky, I had great nurses, great doctors, especially while in the ICU. I’ve seen people get treated horribly with crappy nurses( all the women in my family are nurses) so I was nervous but I truly was lucky and am grateful, grateful for the people that helped me and grateful to be alive and healthy. Also with the ventilator they had to make sure I was ok on my own with no drugs before they could remove it each time, so it was brutal to be awake on it for up to 24 hours before removing it. Like it’s literal torture, that’s why your tied down because no matter how patient and cooperative you are, you just want to scream and rip it out.
Glad you pulled through it all. Oh I’m familiar with process (there’s no nice way weaning off) I get a ICU vent patient maybe once a week now, much less now than I did before.
Thanks man and be nice to those patients(I’m sure you are) cus they are suffering, even when they talk at you and shit lol but good nursing staff can make or break your whole visit, a good nurse is a blessing man. My mom was just in the hospital getting a tumor removed and good doctors and nurses made a world of difference
I cannot even bare to think how that must feel, tied to a bed with all that in you. I assume you have to go to the toilet in the bed and you get fed through a drip do you? I'd have to be on sedation going through all that - Midazolam please lol Nice bit of Amnesia going on.
Ya feeding tube and a catheter for piss and then I also had the lung tubes puncture through my back and into my lungs and shit ina bed pan but I was literally so constipated in the three months I couldn’t walk I only remember using it like three times. But I was really drugged up so I don’t remember a lot anyways lol. The bad part is when they have to take you off the drugs to see how you do on your own and that’s the worst, cus you want to be off the machine but you want the drugs so you just gotta push though it and get off the machine and then they’ll give you the drugs back lol you shouldn’t need as much once your off the machine but still you want something
Lot of it depends on how long your “illness” keeps you in ICU and/or on vent. You want to be on that vent as little time as needed, heal up, then breathing on your own. Longer your on it, longer it can take to wean down. Other factors of course. And yeah lots of Midazolam (Versed) and Propofol drips
Ohh so that is actually a tried and tested popular combination then?!! So when you are on that thing you literally don't breathe in, you just lay there and it does it all for you? Doesn't that feel really bloody horrible?
Ya when your out it does basically everything but when your coming back around idk if they shut parts off so you can do some stuff on your own or what
The 2 aren’t used together, more of a one or the other depending on other issues like BP, head trauma, etc.
And yes, the vent breaths for you, but it gets very complicated to explain as to how much it “assists” you and “how”. That’s a whole different animal to explain. And you won’t really know your on it till it time to bring you out of sedation. Amenesic drugs.
And yes tubes for everything. Your GI system really slows down while under heavy sedation, but it all gets taken care of and cleaned up while your “under”.
Thing is though is he was talking about not being well at all with his lungs and breathing a few days before he disappeared, I think he was attempting to do his first workout after several weeks off so thats why this is all so worrying. Given he was so ill I find it unlikely he would go away too. I really don't know mate, not sure what to think.
I know, he was saying that his pulse ox thing was reading in the 80s which is not good but his wife kept checking it so if anything was getting worse she was probably in top of it.
Makwa be alright. I'm pretty sure he could self diagnose any medical problem in advance and beat it before it starts.
