Lifting doesn't make you big...

Lifting doesn't make you big...food does.

My buddy got sucked into the physique class craze. Convinced he is going to get his pro card next year (that is another debate.)

Told me he needs to add some mass so he was doing heavy compound movements. I told him to quit worrying about his abs and eat more. He told me he eats "more than most." I told him that he needs to eat more and not worry how much other people eat.

Of course his response was a rant against gear, stating people that use gear are cheaters, etc. I told him that I don't recommend anyone use gear, but if you want to a be a "pro" athlete you have to play the same game as everyone else.

I stand by my assessment... you don't grow in the gym. You grow during recovery. You want to get big, you shouldn't worry about a little extra fat. That is what cutting is for. That being said, it feels good to not compete. I just like to be big and strong, I don't lay away at night worrying about my body fat percentage.

Food food food. Volume , full range of motion , time under tension , mind muscle connection. Chase the pump when the burn starts your on the right track. Moving an object from point A to B does nothing its how you do it. Drop sets and going to failure. Now doing that in the gym is all fine and dandy but if you don't eat to grow you won't achieve your goals no matter the drugs or the training methods. You do not grow in the gym you break tissue down the heal with nutrition and rest. Seems like everyone is getting their pro card over night lmfao. Everyone thinks its soo easy well bad news boys and girls it is not. It takes time , genetics, dedication and determination. You eat sleep and shit the sport and the lifestyle your world needs to revovle around it.

I see it all the time with a few guys I know....scared to lose them "cuts" for a short time.

Same here, if I want a specific muscle or group to stand out a little more I roll with moderate weight and real slow and controlled form for high volume to maximize pump.

I have enough muscle mass at this point, that I can certainly single out specific groups. Then again, i am not 180 wishing I was 200.

Grow where you need to and not worry about over all weight, gets a little easier at that point
