Lets settle this!! Can your own muscle use stored bodyfat to maintaine and grow?? Fact, Fiction or Bullshit??

Just curious as to everyone's opinion on the matter that you can grow muscle/ perserve muscle useing stored bodyfat is it possible say being in a calc deficit and while on cycle. I overheard someone in the gym saying ooo just throw on more muscle it will eat the fat away. Can this be true?? What's ur thought on this??

Throw on more muscle to eat the fat away? Maybe. It won't eat the fat by any means but putting on more muscle raises your basal metabolic rate a good bit which would make it easier to burn fat in the long run.

Bodyfat to preserve muscle? No. You can replace burning carbs with fat a bit during gluconeogenesis but lipids can't replace proteins.

I call bullshit! Your body will use any extra bf as energy and burn it up in the event you aren't eating enough but using it to grow? I'd have to see the proof.

The only reason body fat gets broken down is when your body needs it for energy. First it will go after glycogen, then any consumed proteins fats and carbs (mostly carbs and fats). After that it will break down a certain amount of muscle for energy and THEN when nothing else is left it will break down fat. (of course the order and rate of metabolism varies between individuals)

But to answer your question NO stored bodyfat can not "maintain growth".

Amino acids and glucose are needed to construct muscle tissue.

Bro have you taken basic biology in school?

hehe okay just making sure.

well anyways the body works in a weird way. Like I said below your body will use glycogen as it's primary fuel source. It will break down foods next carbs and proteins and fats as well. After that is all used up your muscle and/or fat stores will get broken down. Everyone carries a certain amount of muscle before their body breaks that down for fuel.

Some people hold muscle well and the body goes straight for fat stores. Other's are the opposite. But unfortunately no your body will most likely not convert stored fat directly into muscle it just doesn't work like that. Like srg said below, enzymes break down fats. Some people have higher amounts of these enzymes, which is pretty much genetic.

Kind of a multi part question??? I think. If you have more muscle you have a higher bmr which may make it easier to lose weight but just having the muscle doesn't burn body fat. And the first part are you talking something like the palumbo diet?

Even if you are on a cycle your are in a CATABOLIC state if you are only consuming 1000calories.

Your BRAIN alone needs 800-1000 calories PER DAY to maintain proper function
Your body will burn up to 2000 or more calories per day just by performing simple tasks such as breathing a walking and even resting. Add exercise to this and your burning EVEN MORE calories.

You can add all the steroids in the world but with 1000 calories per day you are not gonna see any growth at all. In fact you will LOSE MUSCLE.

What the guy you heard said meant to say was having more muscle increases metabolism. It doesn't "eat fat" but your body will consume more calories to maintain muscle.
