Freedom to choose your own path
I have to rant. Dinner party with some liberals got me fired up this weekend. OK, if your a liberal I firmly respect your views and I'm always willing to listen to them. But I sure as hell don't agree with them.
I consider myself a hard line conservative on many issues. Many people would describe me as a violent conservative when I start discussing them. The reason the dinner party ended abruptly. lol One issue that is always brought up is the drug laws here in the US. Is it the duty of our government to protect us from illicit drugs. What exactly are they protecting us and our children from. Are people walking around with guns grabbing people and making them snort or inject Meth. Are there roving bands of drug dealers kidnapping young people and forcing them to get high. Is there a gym gestapo that pulls you into the locker room and forces your to inject test, or swallow Dbol. Are these events actually happening. The answer is "NO." So what exactly do I need protection from. I consider myself a reasonably bright individual and can see just from a few pictures that Meth, Crack, and Heroin are bad. So is the use of drugs a choice we make. Of course it is. But its a choice I wish the government would allow me to make without repercussion. If I decide to inject Test into my body to help with the growth of muscles. That is a choice I made freely. I also understand that I can ruin my body if I abuse the hell out of it. A couple of pics of guys with gyno show me that. If I decide to ruin my life with Meth, that is a choice I made. We as Americans must get back our country and understand what our country was built on. "Freedom." That includes the freedom to fuck our lives up on illicit drugs if we choose to do so. I'm not advocating doing illicit drugs, and I don't want people to think that this guy is a drug head trying to get us all hooked. What I'm advocating is the freedom to decided the path of your own lives. Most of us gym rats make the decision to spend countless hours lifting iron. We decided to eat right and stay away from bad foods. We live our lives with the ideals we want to better ourselves daily. So if I'm capable of these decisions, I think I'm capable of deciding what drugs are good and bad for me. Rant over!!!!

Nixon, a republican, started the "war on drugs". Regan solidified the effort.
bigwillyI think things are pretty even. I mean hell your on eriods so how hard was it to get a jug of test,lol. Shit has to be controlled and monitored. Man is to destructive. not only shit heads wind up hooked on drugs and theres lots of young boys fucked up from running tren like crazy. I feel ya but its adream.
Guys I appreciate all the comments. I'm not an addict and never have been. With my employment I do see the horror of drug abuse. But I have no idea what it feels like to be an addict. I'm a firm believer of the law when it comes to crimes such as rape, theft, child abuse, murder ect. I don't believe in a lawless world. I have read each one of your comments and appreciate each point of view. Hopefully someday someone smarter then all of us will come up with the best way to handle this cancer that has affected so many. Until then we will just have to debate it till were blue in the face.

...these sound like the words of a true non-addict who doesn't understand that addicts desperately need to be saved from themselves and have lost the power of choice OR an addict who is defending their right to use.

It's a tough line to draw when it comes to drugs like meth, crack, heroine. You should have the choice but with children without life experiences try these drugs. The fact that they are so addictive destroys so many lives. It's the innocent people and naive children that these laws are meant to protect. A grown asshole that chooses to fuck up his own life.... Fine let him but then he tells these ignorant kids about how good it feels or runs out of money to buy it so he steals from anyone including his parents. When this dries up they move on to more extreme measures. All the while dragging kids into. It's infectious and I don't know what a good answer is to fix it. Do we let natural selection take its course? If we do it would get really fucking messy. That's not saying it's not messy now. I believe in freedom but when comes to children it's a different story. In a perfect world every parent would do there fucking job but this world isn't perfect is it. There are to many shitty parents out there. Is there an answer I pray to god someone would come up with the right one....... Ok I'm done! : )
I think you and I would get along just fine. I try to avoid those conversations anymore though, I have a few buddies that are not of similar thinking that I can have an intelligent debate with, but that's it.
For what I know as an exream liberal (I think we need to be liberal with gun laws as well so I'm not one of those anti gun liberals) but we are for more lax drug laws I never heard of a liberal that was anti drugs

I know liberals who feel the government should protect us from everything. They feel guns and drugs (except marijuana) are bad. Social programs, big government and high taxes are good. Lets just say my better half is in education and many of her friends are fervent liberals. Hence the dinner party. I guess where I'm coming from is the decision to choose. I want that freedom. Let me make it, and I will deal with the repercussions of it. Now I'm also a freedom of choice person when it comes to abortion. Many religious conservatives will throw holy water on me for saying that. But I believe its your decision to choose that path as well.
