RMZ-250 Nothing being on dirt and on a motocross track
that's something i'd definitely like to try, anyone can be a straight line hero, the turns are where skills comes into play
Its a rush, exspecially when you are going a decent speed with a 10 ft high pile of dirt in front of you for the jump then going 10 15 in the air. Once you get a good rythm on the track and starts flowing nothing beats it.
CleyonThe first time you clear a double and land in the sweet spot... What a feeling.
CleyonCome out and play brother! You live close enough to me ;-)
it's on like donkey kong.
Anoni had a gsxr 1000...wish i never sold it
i made the mistake of trying to ride with a friend that has a 'busa. that, more than anything else, was the impetus for me wanting to upgrade to liter class. personally, i love kawi's, but gsxr's look cool as hell!
i ride a 2012 ninja 650. looking to upgrade to a zx6 or zx10 in the next few months. Something a buddy of mine told me before i bought the ninja was that you will learn how to ride whatever bike you ride. There is a lot of truth in that, i'm glad i didn't go for the 250cc, i would have gotten bored on that within a month. As it stands, the 650cc i'm currently riding has given me nearly all she can. I took the motorcycle training class before buying a ninja to get the safety basics down, and i would recommend any new rider do the same.
CleyonI wish they had those when I first started riding, might have saved me a couple of learning opportunities.
it didn't prevent me from tipping it over pulling it out of my garage...twice. haha
CleyonAnd you quickly looked around hoping nobody saw! LOL, been there.
thankfully nobody except my ego saw anything. and i learned an important lesson that day, i can lever 460.8lbs from horizontal to vertical.
CleyonLOL, it's a GREAT lowerback workout.
CleyonIn my family we are dirt guys. We used to love cruisers, but after my brother's accident we've all sworn off street riding (as sad as that is). That being said, my son races a KTM 85SX and is moving up to a 250F next week (or as soon as I can sell his 85), and I ride a KTM 400SXC.
The dirt is where its at. The most fun I have ever had in my life is riding motocross. Nothing else in the world matters when I get out on a track. I just wish I could do it more often. I've only been once in the last few years.
CleyonEven on s Suzuki? LOL just kidding brother! My sons coach has a private track about 20 minutes from my house. We go there whenever we like and have a blast!
I'm riding sport bikes. Right now I'm rocking' an '11 Busa. And an '11 ZX10r. Had all diff. Bikes over the years. Harley Fat Boy was nice to look at but .... Slow as fuck sadly. Had a Honda Vtx1800 cruiser that was a rocket disguised as a cruiser that I traded in STUPIDLY for the Harley. As a beginner maybe look at the ninja 650 or any used 600 from a few years back. Get the experience, then if ya wanna go BIG... Step it up. Honestly, any current 600 is stupid fast and fun. Be safe.
AnonI ride a 91 V Max, its more like a cruiser but it will tangle with a lot of sport bikes and it can roast any Harley without even breathing hard. Id love to experience the new V Max but 19 grand is just too much for a bike in my opinion.
I like the performance of a sport bike, but just dont like the style. I like the ride on a Harley but miss the pure speed of a Japanese 4 cylinder.
CleyonI LOVE the V Max! A buddy of mine has one with NOS on it, as if it wasn't fast enough...
AnonYeah speed is kind of funny, how absurdly fast starts to become "not fast enough"
CleyonYep, that's how my '72 Chevelle went from 400 to 700 HP! At some point 300ft 11s just isn't enough!
AnonNice sounds like a real thumper ! A Chevy guy eh ? Ive got a 69 Z28 myself that is set up for road racing. Ive been to the drag strip in years past, but being out on the track at 20 minute sessions was a lot more fun for me. Dart block, brodix heads, roller cam dynod at 558/472, tubular control arms, full floating 9 inch rear. I also have a 78 K20 with a dart block making a 406 inches with a small Wieand supercharger which dynoed at 600/600.
CleyonVery nice! Yes I am a friend of the Bad Bowties! I've gotten out of the HotRod game though, just don't have the money to pore into it anymore. I've been thinking about turning my '85 BMW E30 into a track car, but with everything else I've got going on I haven't had a chance to do that. You are definitely right that doing road courses is a lot more fun than the drag strip. If I get back into it I'll get a '72 or '73 Camaro and turn that into a corner monster. I had a '75 back in the day that could pull .87 g, really good for such a heavy car. It had a full interior too!
AnonEurocars are how I make my living, if you need help or info hit me up, I'll do what I can.
CleyonIf you can find me an M50 or S50 engine for cheap! LOLOL, that's what I want to do is an M50 conversion on that E30, I've already put sport suspension on it (HR springs, Bilstien shocks), upgraded brake rotors, and am looking at putting stiffer swaybars underneath. The engine swap is the part that would take it to the next level.
If I run into an issue, I'll definitely PM you.
The MV Augusta F4 is on my wishlist!
