Books and Reading
ad
I know at least somebody else on here has got to enjoy reading...
I'm running out of ideas on new books to read and the last couple I've picked up haven't been able to hold my interest and I end up putting them down after the first 30 pages or so...
So with that being said, anybody got any suggestions on some good novels?
I'm not against non fiction if the subject is interesting and the author writes in a reader friendly style either...

testaholic1984
that's sooo 2013
testaholicExactly.
AnonChris Pauline its the guy who wrote the I heratence cycle, eragon they were a good read. When I fund a series I like I stick to it till the whole series is finish.
You might Try Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit by G.F. Hegel
or Being and Time by Martin Heidegger.
Pretty good reads.
Books by RA Salvatore if you like fantasy type novels. They are all a great read and have a great main character named Drizzt who's a night elf. Also the Dune books by Frank Herbert are ALL good though the books after the original Dune book are a bit more heavy on the science fiction so its a bit harder to read. Franks son made some prequels that I have read twice already and they are, in my opinion better than the originals made by his father. Btw, the Dune books are science fiction and are CLASSICS.
I love reading btw. Oh, and Tom Clancy (before he became famous) has some great books. My personal favorite is Without Remorse and has a character that could very well be on roids since he's depicted as a pretty brawny SEAL. The book is a great read and is a bit sad at the ending. Its an EXCELLENT "manly" book to read and I promise you will like it.
waltri've heard of ra salvatore but i've never actually picked up any of his books, i probably should though
and i love tom clancy's books, i can't remember the name of it now but i just finished one of his more recent ones, it was about china and cyber warfare, it was good
Dude, get Without Remorse. I swear you won't regret it. Its one of those books where I read it and didn't want it to end since you grew such an attachment to the characters.
waltrI think I have it and have read it before, the title is definitely familiar. I read so many books I tend to forget the titles of the ones I've already read. Especially with Clancy's books, I'll pick one up that I read years ago thinking I've never read it and get 100 or so pages in before I realize I remember the story and already read the book =/
If you like that kind of writing Brad Thor is a really good war/suspense/action writer
Gonna look up Thor then brother. Thanks for the recommendation! And all the Clancy books are great though I prefer the older ones a bit more.
the life of pi
master and man by leo tolstoy
waltrthe only thing of his i've ever read was the death of ivan ilyich and i liked that, so i'm gonna look into this one
that book will give u the biggest life lesson, not guna spoil it and say more
I am an avid reader.. I love Patricia Cornwell books.. mostly murder and mystery. I also like Anita Blake but her books can very from normal to porn at times. Charlaine Harris books have been great, they are the book that inspired True Blood on HBO... Also, Cassandra Clare I love.. I've read the Nickolas Sparks books but they really aren't my style.. All of these are going to be more appealing to women I think. :-(
waltrthe only author in that list i'm familiar with is patricia cornwell and i didn't care for her style that much to be honest =/
i ended up just going to the library and looking around for a little while, i picked up a brandon sanderson novel called the alloy of law, which is supposed to be based on his mistborn trilogy world, which are 3 really good books if you like fantasy/adventure/romance novels, i enjoy his writing style. I also got wolfhound century by peter higgins which the cover says is like china mieville's style, who i enjoy, although sometimes his writing gets a little weird when he's describing stuff and he draws out what could easily be 1 sentence into 3 pages...
Honestly I loved PC early book but since maybe 10 years ago they haven't been what they were.. Brandon Sanderson I will check into.. I've read Peter Higgins and he's to drawn out for me.. I will say this.. if you like fantasy they can all be a little drawn out.. really if you are into the fantasy please check out Cassandra Clare.. It's the City series... It's about all things in the fantasy world not just one.. it's one of my favs.. she has one come out a few months ago that I've been saving for my beach trip.. nothing like waking up at 5a sitting on the balcony watching the sun rise, waves crashing and a great book.. Good Stuff...
waltrreadings how i get my tan ;D
I'll be finished with the two I just got within a week probably and I'll look into Cassandra Clare
BigBmajRead The Road. I don't usually care for that sort of thing but I couldn't put it down.
Also I went back through some Hess a few months back and that was awesome as usual.
