Very similar to foreign currency exchange if you're up to speed in all that? Only it's better, as its decentralised (not effected by any financial institution or governments currency). However it's a very new e-currency and still in its trial stages so to speak! Mtgox is the biggest place you will find to exchange your currency for bit coins.
