It seems like its everywhere
bleah
You need to purchase rice that is not from the states so rice like Basamati is still good to eat. I don't buy anything else.
basmati is DA BOMB!
F1-Williamsi'd go for basamati too.
Supernova283It's a problem.
CleyonIt is, arsenic is a naturally occuring chemical and is only dangerous in quantity. I would dissagree with the "Worrying levels" statement, because it depends on who's standard of safety you are applying to it.
Supernova283Arsenic is a heavy metal. It doesn't leave the body easily so building levels up when you get it in your roids, rice, protein powder, and god knows what might be easier than you think. Small things add up.
Arsenic is pretty nasty stuff. Very toxic and if you start to show signs of high levels you better have all the children you want because it destroys your reproductive system.
Uranium and radium are both naturally occurring chemicals as well, but I care for small amounts of those either.
AnonWoo woo woo hold up, not to start this debate again, but did I just read you right ? Did you just say small things add up ? Where is Flexo hes gotta see this too.
You know Im just gently poking here right ? Not trying to be a dick.
This is why Sharks are more dangerous to humans when they are dead rather than alive.
CleyonI understand this, but degree matters. I just have a hard time getting all excited over the fact that there is arsenic in rice. The levels aren't high enough to concern me and I'm eating 3 cups or more of brown rice a day. Also, there needs to be understanding of where these numbers come from. Is it one type of rice? All rice? from one manufacturer? There are too many questions left for me to get my panties in a twist.
I checked this out over a year ago. If memory serves me correctly the arsenic is coming from the fertilizer (which was used to get rid of pests) which comes from chicken shit. The aresenic is not in rice from overseas. Having such a cavalier attitude about what is in our food is why big business is able to get away with rat shit, and bug carcasses in parts per million. It is why there is flouride in our water. Flouride is a manufacturing waste product. I don't want to drink it and shouldn't have to just like I don't want to eat "acceptable" amounts of non naturally occurring aresenic in my food.
CleyonFlouride in our water is also why our rate of tooth decay is a lot better than countries without flouride in the water. There is another edge to most of these things. My cavalier attitude is based on the amount of information provided, and not that it might be a bad thing. If you want to eat only what you grow or kill, then more power to you, but these things should be studied and not used as scare tactics.
The arsenic in rice is actually associated with ground water not fertalizer. And the difference in arsanic levels in rice has more to do with groundwater conditions in certain geographic locations than it does with fertilizer.
The biggest problem in this study is it was measuring arsenic levels in the people who are ingesting the rice taking no other factors into consideration. "The authors also conclude that the results of the study reinforce the concern that private well water in New Hampshire is a potential source of arsenic exposure. In this study, over 10 percent of the women consumed water containing arsenic concentrations currently above the World Health Organization (WHO) guideline and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standard for public water systems."
These "researchers" were looking for reasons things to confirm their own biases.
Sodium floride is a deadly neurotoxin that attacks the CNS, your IQ, endocrine system, bone, and believe it or not your teeth too.
CleyonIn quantity... Do you use toothpaste that doesn't have Flouride in it? I'm glad Fouride is in our water, it greatly reduces our dental concerns, to the point that if you brush and floss regularly you have a very slim likelyhood of developing cavities.
Do you also believe contrails are a government plot?
Supernova283What is this flouride you guys keep talking of? Do you mean Fluoride? lol I'm just busting you guys balls.
Almost everything is toxic in high concentrations. Fluoride in low concentrations isn't going to harm you and is beneficial to your teeth. Iodine is extremely toxic, but we actually need it in small concentrations to keep our body healthy (which is why our salt is iodized).
If you honestly think the government put fluoride in the water to poison us you're just like any other conspiracy theorist and aren't worth arguing with anyway. I can't believe the number of times I've been told the government is poisoning us with water, or that jet stream is really chemicals aircraft are spraying us with. If you don't like the water you get from the city use well water, or distilled water.
No floride in my tooth paste or water.
As for the contrails its called atomospheric geoengineering and if you knew what was in the contrails (chemtrails) you would think its a plot
CleyonI'm a pilot, my Dad's a pilot, and I know what is in contrails (they aren't chemtrails sorry)... Please come up for air and read some actual scientific review.
You need to come up for air

Cleyonhttp://contrailscience.com/
CleyonUgh... you obviously don't understand what context is. This is NOT a conspiracy, you know how I know? Because they are talking about the scientific methods/purpose behind this.
Do we release things into the atmosphere? Yep. Does a passenger jet flying over your house release these chemicals being discussed into the air? NO. The contrails you see coming off of jet aircraft are water vapor. When they distribute chemicals into the atmosphere it's with specialized aircraft designed to distibute chemicals (think crop dusters, or fire fighting planes).
I didnt say it was a conspiracy and I didnt say its your passenger jet that is releasing chemtrails, you are right about the jets that you fly are contrails being water vapor.
This is something called atmospheric geoengineering and it is different.
CleyonThen that's something completely different. There are definitely parts of geoengineering that I strongly dissagree with, but the "chemtrails" stuff is utter crap. It's only been the last couple of years that geoengineering was targeted by the contrail crowd, the nutters still yell about every contrail they see in the sky. Convinced they are being poisoned.
that would be a consiracy theorist
Supernova283Dude who cares what he thinks. Let him stay in his house with his fluoride free water and toothpaste and dream of conspiracy.
Who cares what these guys say. They're nuts. You don't listen to those guys on the side of the road with "the end is near" signs and try and convince them that the end really isn't near. Just leave him be.
you do or you wouldnt reply
CleyonI've always tried to save the starving. Especially the intellectualy starving. Sure he's called me a "sheeple" and thinks that I'm ignorant to how screwed up our counrty is (I'm not). Sadly the weakest minds are always the ones that are swayed by hype and propoganda, isn't that how Obama got elected?
I didnt say our country is scwered.
There is just things that take place and its good know,
If you want to think im a conspiracy theorist thats fine,
We are all lacking of knowledge some more than others.
Is atmospheric geoengineering a conspiracy? no its a fact.
Is sodium floride being a neurotoxin a consipracy? no its a fact.
CleyonI spoke poorly, I believe our country is in trouble, but I don't believe it's beyond redemprion.
